My client is a student studying at a university. she is married and has a son. Client is
Muslim and lives in joint family system. His background is middle class. She has 2 siblings and
she is the second in birth order. She has no potential history of any medical illness nor any
psychological disorder and identifies as a normal person with 78% average intellectual ability.
There is no potential history of any psychological illness in her family.

Personal history:

The client has always been an average student and has 78% average intellectual
capability. In her development, she has achieved all milestones on time. She is active and
participates in gatherings and parties. Her education is bachelor’s level. Presently she is a house
wife and most of her time is devoted to her son.

Reason and source of referral:

Client was approached by me for some academic purposes.


Administration:

The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) was developed in 1937


by clinical psychologist Starke R. Hathaway and neuropsychiatrist J. Charnley McKinley at the
University of Minnesota. Today, it's the most frequently used clinical testing instrument and is
one of the most researched psychological tests in existence. While the MMPI is not a perfect test,
it remains a valuable tool in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.

Instruction

The client was provided a room without any noise or any other distractions. I instructed
the client to read the introductory remarks on the front cover of the booklet. She completed the
task in 30 minutes.

Qualitative analysis:
Validity Scales
L scale: My client is able to achieve an appropriate balance between admitting and denying
minor social faults. She creates a favorable self-image. F scale: Scores in this range indicate that
the profile might me invalid; other validity indicators should be checked. The elevation the
severity of distress client is experiencing. Significance is marked. K scale: In this range clients
with limited personal resources who are experiencing severe distress that is being openly
acknowledged.

Clinical Scales
Hs scale: My client has a typical number of physical complaints, lacks energy, demanding,
dissatisfied, complaining and whiny. D scale: My client has a typical number of attitudes and
behavior that reflect symptomatic depression. Hy scale: My client has a typical number of
attitudes and behaviors that relate to hysteric dynamics, denial, immature, self-centered,
demanding, suggestible and affiliative. Pd scale: My client has a typical number of complaints
about authority alienation, boredom, immature, self-centered, extroverted and energetic. Mf
scale: My Client has Interest in traditionally masculine interests and activities and involved in
occupations that are more frequently occupied by males. She has a possible difficulty engaging
in traditional psychotherapy because they usually do not value introspection and insight, might
have difficulty articulating their problems and expressing emotions.
Pa scale: My client is likely to be suspicious and hostile and overly sensitive and overtly
verbalize these qualities. A thought disorder may be readily Apparent. Pt scale: Client can handle
personal responsibilities with undue worry or anxiety. Sc scale: My client may feel alienated and
remote from the actual environment which may reflect an actual schizophrenic profile or
situational or personal distress. Ma scale: My client is over active, emotionally labile and may
experience flight of ideas. Si scale: My client has introverted, depressed, guilty, slow personal
tempo, lack of self-confidence, lack interests, submissive, compliant, emotionally over-
controlled.

Conclusion
The client has shown normal score in Hypochondriasis (Hs), Depression (D), Hysteria
(Hy), Psychopathic Deviate (Pd) and Psychasthenia (Pt) and marked score in Masculinity-
Femininity (Mf) , Paranoia (Pa) , Schizophrenia (Sc), Hypomania (Ma), Social Introversion (Si)
