for D.G.SET

Pre-operational Guidelines
1. Ensure the consent to establish and consent to
operate from Pollution Control Board and State
Electricity Board.
2. DG Set to be installed under covered shed
3. Only acoustic enclosure DG should be used
4. Guards or Safety Devices must not be removed or
adjusted, except by an authorised person for
maintenance purpose.
5. Ensure that workplace is free from slip & trip
hazards.
6. Familiarise yourself with machine all operations and
controls.
7. Ensure all foundation nuts to be tighten before start.
8. Faulty machine must not be used. Immediately
report about the suspect or faulty machine/parts.
9. Ensure the required stack (Exhaust) height as per the
guidelines of CPCB (h in meter = H + 0.2√KVA )
10. Ensure effective earthing along with required earth
pits (2 numbers for neutral and 2 numbers for body)
11. Never tamper with the factory settings of the engine
or engine governor. Damage to the engine or
equipment can result if operating in speed ranges
above the maximum allowable.
12. Display of Danger Sign of appropriate size to be
ensured.
13. Ensure the engine oil, coolant & diesel levels and
cleaning of air filter.
14. Check the battery voltage

Operational Guidelines
1. Only authorized operators to be allowed to operate DG Set.
2. Ensure the cleaning of DG prior to start.
3. Remove the air from diesel line.
4. Check the function of Emergency switch.
5. Ensure the starting of DG on NO LOAD Only.
6. Ensure the power connection of Generator side & Panel board side to
be tight.
7. Check the power supply voltage. (Phase to phase and Phase to
Neutral.)
8. Give the supply on Load and Lock the door.
9. After completion the work, open the door.
10. Cut OFF the main switch and Push the Emergency Push Button.
11. Inflammable materials not to be stored in DG Set
12. Fire Extinguishers and sand buckets to be installed
13. DO NOT remove the engine oil drain plug while the engine is hot. Hot
oil will gush out of the oil tank and severely scald any persons in the
general area of the Maintenance team.
14. Keep fingers, hands and clothing away from all moving parts to prevent
injury.
