HISTORY - NAZI REGIME

a. Due to the crash of the American stock Market, Germany was highly
affected. Consequently it suffered a tremendous impact on its economy
because Americans needed the money they had borrowed to Germans. This
led to unemployment. To solve this the Nazis proposed a plan for the
unemployed to join the army, build Germany's armaments and be used for
public work like road building. This was very attractive to the ones who
were desperates for gaining a little money in the middle of a economic
crisis

b. Hitler argued that Germans were above all other races. However, not all
Germans. Gypsies, homosexuals, mentally handicapped people and groups
who did not follow with the Nazi's ethics were persecuted. Nazis thought
that they were the reason for their failure; they could not make their
country better with them. So, they were seen as a threat and also as the
impure people. Consequently, they started promoting Aryan families so
they could be the future and they would be the majority of people in the
country.

c. Hitler's aim was to control every aspect of German's life, including

children and adolescents. Consequently his regime started to change
everything in order to have the support of this part of the population. But,
was it successful and attractive to young people?

On the one hand, Hitler could catch the attention of a vast majority of
young people. They created Nazi youth Organist ions. One was the League
of German maidens for girls, where they marched in parades with bands,
they were physically fit and their leisure time was devoted to the Nazi
Regime. Also, there was an organisation for boys called Hitler Youth,
where they camped outside, they ran and they learn how to clean a rifle and
read a map. All this groups were not compulsory. However, most of the
kids were members of it because there wasn't any other alternative; there
were the only ones where kids could spend some leisure time. Furthermore,
at school they taught kids how their country was stabbed in the back in
order to make peace and the Jews were the ones to blame for squeezing
profits out. They educate young people with only information the regime
could benefit themselves. Moreover, all the kids were taught from a very
young age that their first loyalty was expected to be Adolf Hitler. So all this
regime was seen as a normal and noble thing, they were raced with this
ideas and were used to it. For them it was the only option, they couldn't see
another possibilities because Nazis did not allow them. So that's why they
had such a great quantity of followers.

On the other hand, some years after all this have started Hitler started
having some opposition from teenagers due to the high restrictions the
regime imposed on them and also because the movements were not the
same as they were when they started. The leaders were replaces and they
were focused on the military drill. Consequently they started losing
popularity. One of the group that was against was the swing movement,
which was a group that listened to English an American songs and they
accepted Jews. They were deliberately slovenly. Also another group was
the Edelweiss Pirates, which were different groups of working class
teenagers that they sang songs mocking Germany and sometimes they
attacked Hitler youth members. They were much freer in their attitude
towards sex. All this activities causes worries upon Nazi authorities but
they could not kill them because they needed them, so they arrested them
or just ignoring them. They didnt have a political view, they were just
opposed to the control of life they had to bare.

On conclusion, I believe that at first they could have the support of young
people but with the pass of time and with the war Hitler was a lot more
restrictive and kids were aware of it. They did not care about politics they
wanted freedom, and they could not have it.
