I saw what appeared to be a shape of a firearm on a monitor for an x-ray machine, in the courthouse obby at 510 5 Di ard St. Durham, NC 27703. 1 lwas on duty, assigned to court security, and observed a bue derringer shaped image, indicating to me that a sma doube barreed handgun had recenty went through the screening station that was not staffed at the time of my presence. Deputy Zagardo asked a security officer, Terrance Hayes, if he was previous y at that screening station. After a brief conversation regarding a firearm being the In the building by someone not authorized to be carrying it, Deputy Zagardo ead Nighthawk jsecurity s Chief Lewis to the camera room with Mr. Hayes. I stayed at the front doors to continue Jscreening peope as they entered the courthouse. Sgt. House was notified and began searching for Peope carrying purses, due to the Image on the x-ray monitor. NARRATIVE Approximate y 5 minutes ater, I was advised that the person in question was ocated and sald she was eaving after giving an apo ogy. The person suspected of carrying a firearm was Janet Hammond, who was on the the first foor of the Sheriff's Office at the records division window. 1 never spoke with her and was notified that she was currenty waking out of the bul ding. I spoke jwith severe emp oyees in order to find out who she was.
