"Does technology play a role in making people feel more isolated?

"

In this question there are three components to answer this question. First, what’s happening in the world?
Is society becoming more stratified? Or, conversely, are we connecting in ways that weren’t possible
before? It’s hard to tell. There doesn’t seem to be a clear trend either way.

The second component is what people do with their time when they feel isolated? Do they spend it with
family or friends (or both)? On the internet looking at cat memes and funny gifs from their favorite TV
show? It could go either way. People might find comfort on the internet or other things might make them
more lonely by replacing face-to-face contact time with screen time. Nowadays, In a world of text
messages, emails, and Skype, some people are feeling more isolated than ever. But does technology play
a role in this? It may not be as simple as it seems at first glance.

In today’s digital world, technology is king. We communicate via email constantly and have the ability to
chat with family members on Skype while they are on vacation in Mexico or Paris. And yet many people
find themselves increasingly lonely even those who have tons of friends online or close to home.
