1.) The researcher aims to acquire knowledge about the topic of the study.

3.) To convey message of equality of every student in our school.

4.) To understand the purpose behind those policies.

5.) To encourage and promote students, teachers, and facility the importance of having a proper
haircut and following the school rules implemented by the school.
INTRODUCTION

Nowaday’s many people have different views about having haircuts in school it has an several

occasions been a source of conflict among school authorities and students. sometimes students want

to have different looks which. make their relationship with school authorities troublesome Haircut are

integral part of promoting a sense of community among students and teachers, but they are also one of

the. most controversial topic outride of the classroom. In this study, well go through the importance of

having a standard haircut in school and dress code by instituting a haircut, schools may avoid thorny

issues like modesty, offensive symbols, and text Furthermore, it reduces the need for teachers to keep

track of what their students wearing in proper haircut.

Haircut policy was implemented even before in Elementary level student has been a controversial for

many years. The prescribed plain short hair may. look tidy, but the insistence on the hair length below

the lobe in the case of girl students, which is fixed at one centimeter or at mort two is quite

unnecessary.

However, we do not live in a perfect world many school districts have attempted to protect the learning

environment by enacting dress codes, proper haircut etc. Like for example, when the Football reason

opened in 1970 at the university of North Carolina, the teams, the students, and the alumni in the

stands were greeted by a man who were a football player with clean, neat but has a long hair. Later the

game. which the home team won, 13 alumni including teachers complained to the Athletic Department

and come threatened to end their financial.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

One of the rule and regulations in the school is the haircut policy government makes and

implemented laws and policy to ensure the safety of every student they implemented school policies

that can reach a long-term goal in protecting students’ life inside the school grounds. Haircut. policy in

school is very important because it is one policy. that can build discipline among students The

department of Education ( DepEd ) has a long-standing policy that governs good roaming This include

prescribing a so- called proper haircut for made pupils in both private and public schools The

prescribed hair out for boys i at least one inch above the ear and three inches above the collar line.

Cleanliness neatness and proper haircut is what really matters. There is hardly anything that

they unchanged all the time, hair is one prominent Feature of a person there is denial of the fact That

school hair policy can sometimes become really annoying for not only students but also parents. the

primary things that are focused on are to make students look alike the same instead different because

modern hay color Trends sometimes may be inpatriate for a school look.

According to Lynda M. Grandinetti (2000) Supreme Judicial cover upheld night of a public

school. Committee to compel proper haircut of students in order to maintain discipline and decorum in

the classroom. The court need the right of the committee as one of many discretionary functions

necessarily to the safe and orderly

operation of our public schools, compelling a student to conform the regulations regarding dress and

hairstyle in order to refrain the privilege of attending public school may have appeared arbitrary and

capricious to the general have public.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The purpose of this study is to inform every student specially in the College Department of Gingoog city

College to have a proper haircut most importantly all male student

Specifically, it seeks answers. to the Following question

1.) What are the effects of having an improper haircut in term of?

2.) What are the profiles of the respondents in forms?

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The study focuses on proper hair cut preference for college department of Bachelor of Science

in Education ( BSED) in Gingoog City Colleges . And to determine their possible answer and reasons

by conducting some sort of surveys and interview which indicated in the research paradigm below.

THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK
 The Department of Education (DepED) issues the enclosed Basic Guidelines in the

development of learners Discipline Manual which shall serve as the basis of all public and private

schools in crafting or developing or amending their learners . Promoting physical hygiene and proper

school decorum is part of the teaching learning process in schools , thus a student’s attire and physical

appearance ( proper haircut for male) should manifest learnings from this process. A learner/ student

who is not in proper haircut is required to present a letter of explanation from his parents or guardians

or to bring them to school for a short conference with the section adviser or guidance counselor.
 HYPHOTHESIS OF THE STUDY

1. There will be no significant effect of respondent’s profile to the prevalence of haircut policy

among college students

2. There will be no significant effect of respondent’s profile to the related factor of dress code

among college students

3. There will be no significant effect on the prevalence of haircut and related factor of dress code

among college students

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This study was focused on the Factors of why students need to have proper haircut.

Some students of Gingoog city college specifically the criminology students are following the

said rules unfortunately of her departments did not follow the proper haircut implemented in the

school.

In this study, the researcher wanted to know the different reasons and excuses of other

department why they are not having proper haircut, especially all male students.

The study considered the Gingoog city colleges College Department the research locates

of the research problem.

Specifically, the reason why the researcher conducted this study about the proper haircut

because the researcher wants to inform everyone why they are not. Following the proper haircut

and why they need to have it.

The respondents of this research would be the College Department of Gingoog city

colleges distinctively all male students of BSED.

DEFINITION OF TERM

PROPER- of the required type suitable or appropriate.

IMPROPER- not in accordance with audited rules or standards, especially morality or honesty,

lacking in modesty or decency

STUDENTS- Person who is studying at a school or college.

SCHOOL RULE- Rules are guidelines for actions and for the evaluation of action in terms of

good and bad or right and wrong and therefore a part of moral or values education in school.

HAIRCUT- The style in which a person hair is cut.

SCHOOL- an institution for educating children which instruction is given in a particular discipline.

COLLEGE DEPARTMENT- A department of a group of faculties with expertise in a specific

academic field (or discipline ) who offer course in that field.

COLLEGE- an educational institution a establishment in particular are providing higher

education or specialized professional or vocational training

CRIMINOLOGY- The Bachelor of Science in criminology or criminal justice is a four year degree

program intended for individuals who wish to have a career in the fields of law enforcement,

security administration, crime detection and prevention of correctional administration

REVIEW AND RELATED LITERATURE

The haircut policy is such a trivial rule, fit it implemented so strictly. And in an environment

made for teenagers trying to discover their talents, skills and determine their career paths,

unnecessary ruler will not only be questioned, but may prove to be backwards and

counterproductive. The haircut rule creates a standard that every male student. must conform to.

It forces them to self-regulate their appearance which rounds like a nice, easy way to build a

sense of acquired discipline. Acquired discipline sounds like a basic thing for every person come

thing must it be enforced on natural hair ( luistro, 2016)

The standard haircut policy for most schools and universities in the Philippines is 2x3 or

better known as "barber's cut". To give you a clear picture, the hair is cut two inches shaved on

the sides, and three inches shaved on the back come schools that implement such policy are

Aquinas School, St Andrew's school, and Don Bosco Technical Institute Like every other policy,

haircut policy applies to a certain category of people; males only. By regularly having a haircut,

the students keep mind that they have in something to accomplish at certain time every month.

that is the discipline that the school administrators emphasize. the barber's cut looks neat and

dean, according to the administration of the schools that implement the policy. Fine young men

are how male students which such hairstyle is treated Its quite hygienic as well because the

possibility of messing up the hair through over-styling is removed. ( Argumentative Essay, 2016).

Nowadays, trends have dominated the world from different fashions and even haircuts.

Our society has created different hairstyles different color, tone, curve volume and length of

hairs, and from are influencers like. celebrities and in fact it is popular amongst people specially
to young students. Although many schools are implementing a policy regulating students’

haircuts and hairstyles (Proff Essil. 2011).

Mana Paglinawan, 2015 dated that the hair policy is part of the University of Santo Tomas

Good Grooming Policy under the University's code of conduct and Discipline (PPS Number

1027) The hair policy reads, "unless otherwise allowed by the administrators of the particular

Faculty/College/ Institute / school for specific reasons, male students are not allowed to sport

long hair. Hair should not touch the collar of the uniform.

School rules and regulations exist for good reasons. They were created to protect the

welfare and safety of students. Meanwhile, there are some policies that aim to direct the

students Focus on learning, proper grooming. and discipline from the length of socks and color

of sneakers to haircut and hair color (Winona Rica, 2018).

One of the most important parts of our body that reflect our personality is our hair The

way we dress haircut, and our style all reveal the type of person we are. But unlike other parts of

our body that we try to maintain and upkeep hair is the most neglected portion of our bodies

Most of us do not feel bothered about our hair

Until the time it starts looking terrible. It is your hair that. gives you personality and

character. The effects of a haircut and style go beyond enhancing your personal appearance. It

also affects the way people recognize you (Valery, 2020)or standard, especially morality or

honesty lacking in modesty or decency
