API 653 - Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector
Exam Preparation Training

The API 653 Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector should have a broad knowledge base
of tank inspection and repair of aboveground storage tanks and will meet the
minimum qualifications set forth in API Standard 653, Tank Inspection, Repair,
Replacement and Reconstruction.

The training will progress through the questions and the standard, and you will have
completed the exam preparation process with this training.
API 510 - Pressure Vessel Inspector
Exam Preparation Training

Certified API 510 Pressure Vessel inspectors must have a broad knowledge base of
maintenance, inspection, repair and replacement of pressure vessels. The API 510
exam is designed to determine whether individuals have such information.

The training will progress through the questions and the standard, and you will have
completed the exam preparation process with this training.
API 570 - Piping Inspector
Exam Preparation Training
Certified API 570 Piping inspectors must have a broad knowledge base of maintenance,
inspection, replacement and repair of in-service metallic piping systems. The API 570
exam is designed to determine whether applicants have such information.

The training will progress through the questions and the standard, and you will have
completed the exam preparation process with this training.
API 1169 - Pipeline Construction Inspector
Exam Preparation Training
The API 1169 Pipeline Construction Inspector certification program was developed in
collaboration with industry experts to establish an industry-wide credential for the
inspection of new onshore pipeline construction.

The training will progress through the questions and the standard, and you will have
completed the exam preparation process with this training.
ASNT Certification Training
Within the scope of ASNT SNT-TC-1A, Level I and/or Level II certification
can be given to personnel who are successful in the following trainings
and exams.

• VT - Visual Inspection
• MT - Magnetic Particle Test
• PT - Liquid Penetrant Test
• UT - Ultrasonic Inspection Test
• RT - Radiographic Examination Test
ASNT Visual Inspection (VT) Level I and II
• Select the Visual technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
• Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or
procedures;
• Prepare Visual written instructions
• Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below level 2;
• Provide guidance for personnel at or below level 2, and
• Report the results of Visual test
ASNT Magnetic Testing (MT) Level I and II
• Select the Magnetic technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
• Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or
procedures;
• Prepare Magnetic written instructions
• Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below Level 2;
• Provide guidance for personnel at or below Level 2, and
• Report the results of Magnetic test
ASNT Penetrant Testing (PT) Level I and II
• Select the Penetrant technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
• Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or
procedures;
• Prepare Penetrant written instructions
• Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below level 2;
• Provide guidance for personnel at or below level 2, and
• Report the results of Penetrant test
ASNT Radiography Testing (RT) Level I and II
• Select the Radiography technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
• Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or
procedures;
• Prepare Radiography written instructions
• Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below level 2;
• Provide guidance for personnel at or below level 2, and
• Report the results of Radiography test
ASNT Ultrasonic Testing (RT) Level I and II
• Select the Ultrasonic technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
• Interpret and evaluate results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications or
procedures;
• Prepare Ultrasonic written instructions
• Carry out and supervise all tasks at or below level 2;
• Provide guidance for personnel at or below level 2, and
• Report the results of Ultrasonic test
Weld Inspector (WI) Level I
• Have a basic understanding of welding techniques, welding positions, welding consumables, weld
preparation and welding drawing requirements
• Be able to use welding inspection gauges and other commonly used measuring devices to check
pre-weld fit ups and post-weld profiles
• Be able to visually inspect welded constructions and correctly identify any weld/welding
imperfection present
• Understand the need for specifications, codes and standards and the need for acceptance levels
• Verify that joint preparation and fit-up are in accordance with welding procedure specifications
and/or work instructions
• Basic examination and evaluation of weld sequence
• Visual inspection of completed welds
Weld Inspector (WI) Level II
• Possess an understanding of the relationship between quality assurance, quality control and
inspection procedures
• Confirm that welders have been properly qualified in accordance with applicable codes and
standards, and that their certification is current and valid for the welding procedures applied
• Observe the preparation of test pieces and destructive tests, verifying compliance with relevant
specifications
• Verify against specifications the correctness of base/parent material and welding consumables
• Verify that joint preparation and fit-up are in accordance with specifications
• Confirm during welding that only specified and accepted welding procedures (approved by the
appropriate quality, technical or regulatory authority) are used and applied
• Examine and evaluate
• Review NDT reports on welding work for which the Weld Inspection level 2 is responsible
• Record welding inspection results in a manner such that the welds inspected may subsequently be
identified
Basic Radiation Safety (BRS)
• Basic Radiation Safety is a qualification that demonstrates that the person holding
the qualification has been adequately trained in the hazards associated with
ionizing radiations, in the precautions to be taken when employing ionizing
radiation, and in the methods of protection. BRS covers awareness of the content
of any special requirements for permanent facility or site operations and the
importance of complying with these requirements. It also covers possible accident
or emergency situations that can occur and the actions to be taken in the event
that they do.
Material Evaluation Level II
• Select the Material Evaluation technique for the test method to be used;
• Define the limitations of application of the testing method;
• Translate NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the
actual working conditions;
• Set up and verify equipment settings;
• Perform and supervise tests;
