When was the city of Dubai founded?
The earliest historical records of the city begin in 1799, when the Bani Yas clan established their
independence from Abu Dhabi. Dubai became a kingdom in 1833, when the Al-Maktoum dynasty of the
Bani Yas clan (originally from Abu Dhabi) took it over peacefully.
