SMART AND UNIQUE CARD FOR COLLEGE STUDENT

ABSTRACT
Smart card is secure portable card. Nowadays, it is used in worldwide and this card is used in different sectors
but not in college. So, this paper aim is developing an advanced system for students to make transaction
digitally. This application is also useful for staff members to conduct official documents administration. The
student used this card for various purposes mainly cash payment, library management, attendance and storing
important documents.
Keywords: Unique ID, Smart Card, System, Barcode.
I. INTRODUCTION
The Smart Card concept introduced by Roland Moreno in 1974. This project developed for students to make
their work easy. It is simplest way for students to make transaction digitally. It is built on INTRANET. The smart
card is isolated card which contain a barcode . This card is useful for storing student’s documents and make
transactions. To make payment this card is used in various shops like canteen, stationary, library stores. This
card can be renewed with the help of admin. When we insert the card the unique id is scanned and cash is
transferred from the student’s account. With the help of card ,we also submit the important documents of the
students. When we scan the unique id stored in card, which is sent to the server wherever the student’s
documents are stored, then the needed documents are directly sent from the server to wherever needed and it is
easy to access the documents. This card is also useful in library to pay fine. The fine is calculated with the help of
ID stored in the card. It is depending, the information which retrieved with the help of card. This portable card is
very secure and beneficial. Thus the card is very useful for student and it make our work easy.
II. LITERATURE SURVEY
1.Multi-purpose student card technology:
Magnetic strip card can be encrypted to build up data and pre-programmed task. Magnetic strip card is used to
perform single variety of task. It does work like attendance, pay the money as well as stores record in database.
All details of users stored in one card.
Benefits-
1) Digital transaction.
2) Easy to access data.
2. c Barcode based attendance system:
In school, colleges attendance is taken manually which gives more efforts to write but, in this system, contain a
card which contain a barcode and this barcode scanned by the students. The record of attendance store in
database.
It is executed using two type of barcode-
1) Linear barcode- linear barcode is simply row of bars which encode the data.
2) Matrix barcode- it is 2D barcode like a QR code. The shape of matrix code is square.
Benefits-
1) Simple technology.
2) Low-cost.

III. METHODOLGY
In current situation the student detail work done on paper which takes more time to write the details of the
students. So this card is very beneficial for staff to keep student’s details. These systems use barcode reader,
with the help of barcode we take students details and all details of students keep in database of computer
software.

The above figure shows flow chart for login page in proposed methodology, consider a student arrives at
stationary shop and buys something, to pay his bill he can use his smart card by scanning it at stationary shop.
This card contains a unique code which will redirect it to the admin account.
After scanning the card, the system checks whether the student is registered or not. If student exist then login
page will appear which contains login credentials.
The system will verify the password and if the password is correct then student can access his account and can
pay his bill. If password is incorrect then the page will redirect to login page.
After accessing the account, the student can logout of the system. If student wants to access account again, he
can scan his card into the system.
The proposed system is divided into main modules-
• Admin Login-By using this, the admin can login. It can also renew the balance of the student’s smart card.
• Student Login-By using this, the Student can login. It can also view balance and last five transactions which
will help him to be aware of his card balance and accordingly renew it whenever required and also used
wherever needed.
• Account maintenance-The admin is in charge of for protect the accounts of the students.

• ID scanning- When the ID is scanned on the card the cash is deducted from the students account. And
receive important students documents.
• Payment of fine- To pay fine of library books, the ID is scanned on the card.
• Payment for stationary items-The card can also be used to pay for stationary items.
IV. ADVANTAGES
1) The students don’t have to carry its document always, all it need to carry is the portable card.
2) There is no need for student to carry cash. It just needs to refill its card via admin.
V. CONCLUSION
Smart card can add facility and maintenance to any transaction of value and data. This card can be carried
anywhere. Also student does not carry money all the time. Instead having two or more cards for different
department we can use only one which can be useful in different departments for transactions.
FUTURE SCOPE
1) The student doesn’t have to carry its documents always, all it needs to carry is the portable card.
2) Reduce manual work.
3) Don’t fear to lose money.
