SAMPLE SELF‐INTRODUCTION
My name is Sarah Cho. I was born and raised in the city of Berlin, Germany. I have just graduated from Berlin
High School back in August 2019 and now seeking to achieve my education at Kyungsung University located in
Busan, Republic of Korea for various reasons.

Since I was young by watching Korean dramas and researching online, I began to take an interest about
Republic of Korea and decided to pursue my future education in the city of Busan. While I was studying in
Berlin High School, I realized that pursuing my college education in a country different from my own would be
a great opportunity to explore my desired field of tourism studies, experience the unique Asian culture, and
learn its way of the varied hotel management systems. I believe that Republic of Korea can offer me much
knowledge in the diverse field of tourism and that I can gain a lot of multicultural understanding,
simultaneously studying my major at KyungsungUniversity.

I describe myself as an adventurous and a considerate person. I love exploring new places, taking on
challenges, and learning something new. Although I am an introverted person, I am not shy in making friends
or meeting new people. By working at a part time job, it has also taught me to handle big responsibilities and
serving others. It has also trained me some basics of the customer service and allowed me to understand why
it is so important in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Studying in Kyungsung University would be beneficial for me as it can allow to meet various people, a chance
to learn a new language at the same time learn the major in English, and for its convenient location. Most
importantly, I am considering to study in Busan because it is more affordable compared to other universities
in Korea as well as around the world. I also selected Kyungsung University for the English Track Program
because not many universities in Korea offered this program. Through this program, I believe I can improve
my language skill, people’s skill, and gain much experience in the desired field.

I am a very hard‐working person and I always try to do my best. I do not easily give up and I try to stand up for
myself. In difficult times, I often solve it by consulting with my parents, teachers, or friends for advice. I know
that I can overcome my difficulties, adjust to the culture, make new friends, study hard, and achieve my goals
if I had the chance to study in Korea. I am really looking forward in studying and taking on a completely new
experience at KyungsungUniversity.

SAMPLE FUTURE GOAL

I currently have short‐ and long‐term goals. My short‐term goal is to take admission at Kyungsung University. I
am now trying to organize and prepare all necessary documents so I can submit it to the school. Not only this,
I have been researching on the internet and reading books about Korean culture, education system, and other
aspects about the country. From different rumors, I know that one of the biggest challenge is about learning
and speaking the Korean language. So to help me prepare better, I have been trying my best to self‐study
Korean through YouTube videos andworkbooks.

After getting admission to the University, I hope to do my very best during my 4 years of education in Korea. I
wish to gain a lot of valuable knowledge in the field of hotel management as much as I can and try to make
various friends to help me overcome my difficulties. While studying at Kyungsung University, I also hope to
improve my communication skills, people’s skill, as well as to build more understanding about the different
culture. Aside from my studies, I would also like to visit many places and just experience the multiculturalism
to expand my viewpoints.

For now, I believe it is too early to tell my future plan after my study at Kyungsung University. However, I would
like to go back to my home country to establish a strong connection between Germany and Republic of Korea.
By joining a career within the Hotel & Tourism industry, I would really like to take my gained knowledge of the
Korean system, particularly on service, and put it into practical use back home.
