SeekersGuidance
Canada?
SeekersGuidance Canada strives to spread the light of Prophetic knowledge, guidance, and service globally and in our local
communities.

We offer classes and programs rooted in mainstream Islamic teachings, offered by qualified scholars, to revive hearts and
minds, and benefit humanity—completely free.

Our new centre at 220 Britannia Rd. E. in Mississauga is a professionally-designed, beautiful learning space where all people
are welcome, and will feel a deep sense of community and connection.

It is our goal to establish a truly global Islamic seminary right here in Canada—a seminary that will (a) facilitate the spread
of general Islamic knowledge and guidance in our community; (b) train future scholars, teachers, callers, and empowered
activists and (c) educate and inspire committed believers who live, embody, and spread knowledge, guidance, and good in
service of God’s creation.

Certificate
Courses
The Steps Essentials Certificate
(Sundays, 1PM - 4PM)

A one year program covering what you need to know to fulfill

your religious obligations soundly and to live Prophetic guidance
practically. In nine courses, you’ll cover the essentials beliefs;
worship; halal and haram; and living the Prophetic example
(sunna) in one’s daily life—based on classical Islamic scholarship
and applied to our living context.

The Seekers Youth Certificate

(Saturdays 10AM - 12:30PM)

A one-year program for young Muslims (12-18) to learn essen-

tial Islamic knowledge with clarity, and to have the inspiration
to live this guidance with excellence.

The Certificate in Islamic Activism trains Islamic

activists in Islamic values, ethos, leadership, and organization-
al skills needed to be empowered servant-leaders. Six mod-
ules, monthly:

Allah tells us in the Qur’an. In this course, Shaykh Faraz will
cover arguably the most influential Prophetic biography of
recent times, Shaykh Bouti’s Fiqh al-Sira (Lessons from the
Prophet’s Life). Both the life of the Prophet and practical
lessons related to all aspects of our lives will be addressed.

The Revival Circle:

In this weekly circle, Shaykh Faraz Rabbani and Shaykh
Yusuf Weltch will be covering one Book a month from
the 40 Books of Imam Ghazali’s masterpiece of Islamic
knowledge and spiritual guidance, Reviving the Religious
Sciences (Ihya’ Ulum al-Din). We will be beginning from
the Final Quarter: On the Salvific Qualities, with the Book
of Repentance. Excellent class for anyone seeking to
strengthen and deepen their relationship with Allah, and
to enrich their religious understanding.

Our Teachers
“ Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
Shaykh Faraz Rabbani is a renowned scholar specializing in Islamic law and theology. He spent ten years studying
with some of the leading scholars of recent times, first in Damascus, and then in Amman, Jordan. In 2007 he
founded SeekersGuidance: The Global Islamic Seminary. Since 2011, Shaykh Faraz has been named one of the
world’s 500 most influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Strategic Centre. He currently teaches courses in Islam-
ic beliefs, Hanafi law, and Prophetic guidance.

“ Shaykh Mohammad Abubakr Badhib

Shaykh Mohammad Abubakr Badhib is a globally renowned scholar of Islamic law (Shafiʿi), hadith, theology, and
Islamic history, specializing in the traditional pedagogy of Yemeni scholarship. Born in the Hadramawt Valley,
he studied Islamic sciences throughout the Middle East and as far as India, where he earned his PhD at Aligarh
University in 2013. Having memorized the Qur’an, Shaykh Mohammad received authorization in hadith, Shafiʿi
law, and other Islamic sciences from some of the most prominent Islamic scholars of our times, both male and
female. Notably, Shaykh Mohammad is the author and editor of more than fifty works spanning the various tra-
ditional sciences. He returns to Toronto this fall to teach classes geared to both students of knowledge and the
Arab-speaking community.

“ Shaykh Yusuf Weltch

Ustadh Yusuf Weltch is a teacher of Arabic, Islamic law, and spirituality. After accepting Islam in 2008, he then
completed four years at the Darul Uloom seminary in New York where he studied the Arabic and the traditional
sciences. He then travelled to Tarim, Yemen, where he stayed for three years studying in Dar Al-Mustafa under
some of the greatest scholars of our time, including Habib Umar Bin Hafiz, Habib Kadhim al-Saqqaf, and Shaykh
Umar al-Khatib. In Tarim, Shaykh Yusuf completed the memorization of the Qur’an and studied inheritance law,
legal methodology, hadith methodology, Qur’anic exegesis, Islamic history, and a number of texts on spirituality.
He joined the SeekersGuidance Canada teachers team in summer 2019.

“ Ustadha Shireen Ahmed

Ustadha Shireen Ahmed is an experienced teacher, educator, and mentor, specializing in marriage, parenting,
and character development. Born and raised in Canada, she graduated from the University of Toronto with a
B.A. in Psychology and Sociology. Thereafter, she travelled to Syria, studying Arabic and sacred knowledge at
the University of Damascus and Abu Nour Institute. She took private classes in Qur’anic recitation, Prophetic
traditions, sacred law and Prophetic biography. After ten years abroad, she returned to Toronto, Canada. She
currently serves as Managing Director of SeekersGuidance Canada, where she draws from years of experience
as a community leader and activist.

“ Ustadha Halimah Maideen

Ustadha Halimah Maideen is a teacher of Islamic studies specializing in Qur’anic recitation and Shafiʿi law. She
spent her formative years in Madrasah Wak Tanjong, a seminary of Sacred Law in Singapore, before enrolling in
a school for memorization of the Qur’an. She then went on to Tarim, Yemen, where she stayed on for six years,
completing the Islamic Studies Curriculum. In her final year of studies, she earned her full authorization to teach
recitation of the Qur’an, as well an authorization for Jazari’s famed manual on the subject, while assisting in teach-
ing Qur’an at the prestigious Dar al-Zahra. Ustadha Halimah joined the SeekersGuidance team of teachers this
summer with her husband, Ustadh Yusuf Weltch.
