PART 1: ON-THE-JOB TRAINING PROGRAM

CHAPTER I

BACKGROUND

A. Introduction

On-the-job training is a component of a college curriculum designed to teach and

orient students about their current and future careers. On-the-job training is a sort of

skill development in which a worker learns how to do a job. On-the-job training is a

means of exposing students to a range of work conditions in order to offer them hands-

on experience and the ability to apply theories and computations gained in school.

It also assists students in learning important information and skills by placing them in

realistic scenarios. Correct on-the-job training aids in the preparation of future

professionals for their employment. Even the little details learned during on-the-job

training can be applied while students are working. Students will be educated both

socially and intellectually. They will no longer be troubled about how they work and

interact with others. It also allows the trainee to engage himself in his chosen field of

experience and gain the essential abilities for the sector. Working with experienced

employees allows you to see how the job is done appropriately.

On-the-job training exposes the student to genuine specialists and personnel at all

levels of the firm, in addition to work experience. The student will learn how to adjust to

the personalities and attitudes of others.

On-the-job training takes time and dedication. OJT should be taken seriously by

trainees because it can be a useful tool for those preparing for their next professional

chapter. When they graduate from students to professionals, it may act as a source of

recommendation.

B. Objectives of the Training

The main goal of the on-the-job training program is to place graduate students in

relevant work settings to enhance their classroom learning.

On-the-job training programs are designed to accomplish the following goals:

 Provide general work experience so that the student can put his or her college

talents to good use while also learning new ones.

 To gain experience and the courage and values necessary for work life.

 This will prepare the student to work effectively and efficiently in industrial and

commercial environments.

C. Time and Place of Training

The on-the-job training was conducted at the NIA MARIIS- Dam and Reservoir

Division, Barangay, Ambatali, Ramon, Isabela, started on March 14, 2022, and it

ended on April 22, 2022 with the following schedule:

CHAPTER II

A. Historical Background

P.D. 693 signed on May 7, 1975, by the late Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos authorized

the construction of Magat Dam & appurtenant structures.

Implementation of this project was based on the preliminary study conducted in

1973 by the National Irrigation Administration with the assistance of the United States

Bureau of Reclamation and the United States Agency for International Development.

Subsequent detailed and extensive dam site investigation & engineering studies

further confirmed the feasibility of what is now known as NIA’s most daring

infrastructure project & one of Asia’s biggest dams today.

The Magat Dam, which was completed on October 27, 1982, is located at the

boundaries of Sto. Domingo, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao and Ramon, Isabela, approximately

350 kilometers (220 mi) north of Manila and six km. upstream of the MARIS Diversion

Dam.

The Philippine government and the World Bank which extended a $150 M loan

for the foreign exchange requirement jointly financed the project.

In addition, a $ 9 M loan from Bahrain was obtained for the purchase of other

equipment for the diversion tunnels, soil laboratory, and model testing.

The total project cost is P4.2 billion

B. Challenges and Difficulties

13
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

The challenges and difficulties that he encountered is when the devices and

instruments they used were unfamiliar to him during my on-the-job training, followed by

the system and how it functioned.

When the student-trainee was asked to install a UTP cable by his supervisor, he

reluctantly made it even though he has no idea about it because no one taught him to

make one. As a result, he failed to make it work. His supervisor taught him and the rest

of the group how to make a UTP cable and now proudly doing it on his own

When Sir Roylan allowed him and his team to survey at the Maris Dam elevation

and soon got the right elevation.

C. PROBLEMS MET AND SOLUTION OFFERED

Before entering on-the-job training at NIA MARIIS Dam and Reservoir Division, I’m

not totally prepared physically and mentally. But what I think on the first day of OJT is I

can do it; this is for my future and it helps me to grow and learn new things.

Since we assign to the DISU section which focuses on surveying using advanced

technology, it's difficult to understand how it works, some employees said you just need

more practice and experience. We practiced and asked for advice from someone who is

more knowledgeable about the technology.

I learned a lot of things when I was there in NIA, I learned that every one of us has

the capability to work as one, as a team. I learned also to be brave and independent

cause at the end of the day you are the only one that can help yourself.

B. Conclusions

During on-the-job training, the trainees experienced and learned a lot. They've been

more aware of what's going on in their society as a result of their time as an intern in a

government sector institution. They got to work in an office, go out into the field, and do

some paperwork. For them, this is a life-changing experience. It encourages them to

consider which path to take.

They are prepared to face the real world by integrating what they learned in school

with how much they have learned and grown as a result of this intern program.

PART II – ON-THE-JOB TRAINING ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES

19
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

CHAPTER I: ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES

A. INTRODUCTION
Enhancement activities are an enrichment or improvement process.

The term "enhancement" in higher education refers to the enhancement of

each learner's qualities, comprehension, aptitude skills, and capabilities in

order to increase their success. In addition to your academic courses, you

will receive academic enrichment that is tailored to your needs and

advancement aspirations. This will assist you in developing the

independent thinking skills required for university.

B. IMPORTANCE OF ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES

It is important to deeply understand enhancement activities, these

activities are intended to provide graduates with further information on

what they should do following graduation. The information is required for

the student's future planning.

C. GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES

To search for opportunities and get started in their careers,

providing students with knowledge of all elements of working.

CHAPTER II: NARRATIVE OF ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES ATTENDED

“WRITING COMPREHENSIVE RESUME, GRAMMAR ENHANCEMENT, AND JOB

INTERVIEW”

20
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

INTRODUCTION

A resume is usually a basic requirement for moving forward in the interview

process in today's highly competitive professional job market. Resume will illustrate to

companies because the individual is a good fit right away.

It demonstrates your previous work experience to a potential employer. It outlines

your qualifications and training, work experience and education, and, most importantly,

prior company accomplishments.

OBJECTIVES

 To understand how to create a detailed resume.

 To understand how to prepare for a job interview.
 To learn how to improve grammar.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Resume preparation. A resume may contain all of the needed information, it is

important to keep it as short as possible while still offering complete and clean

information. I learned how to write a well-informed and how to use it to properly

introduce myself, my qualifications, and my objectives after listening to his clear

explanation.

During face-to-face and phone job interviews, "Fail to organize, and you'll fail to

organize," he says, which appeals to me.

21
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

As a student who struggles to review due to the lack of knowledge produced by

COVID-19 has taught me how difficult it is to stay organized. But that doesn't mean I

won't prepare; I'll prepare regardless of how difficult it is, and I'll prepare with a mindset

that will focus on the present and provide a foundation for the future.

Grammar improvements, when communicating with people, good language and

word choice are vital. To totally communicate, proper writing and wording of thoughts it

is often critical to check grammar to talk properly and to clarify one’s perspective views

to the listener or reader.

“BUILDING SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-ESTEEM”

22
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

INTRODUCTION

It may appear that gaining confidence is a difficult task, but the most important

place to begin is with yourself. Confidence is a feeling that comes from knowing who

you are at your core.

This might be challenging since we are often so focused on doing that we forget

to be. There are many activities and obligations, but it is vital to go beyond your daily

routines to find who you are. Tasks and errands, volunteer activities, hobbies, and even

professional jobs are not enough to determine who you are. While these tasks are

necessary for life management, they do not address the source of your happiness.

OBJECTIONS

 To understand how to boost your self-esteem

 To comprehend the importance of knowing oneself.
 To learn how to present yourself appropriately in work.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

She talked about self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-concept. She underlines

the importance of these three themes in our life.

As a person, I can say that building self-confidence and self-esteem is a tough

grind. It may appear that building self-confidence is a difficult task, but the most

important place to begin is with yourself.

23
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

So, if you find yourself allowing people to decide how you feel about life, you

must pause and do an internal assessment. Consider whether your lack of self-

confidence and self-assurance prevents you from being the best you can be.

Remember that you will only grow if you are willing to take charge of your life and

whatever prevents you from doing so. Stop waiting for society to validate us before

we validate ourselves. It's time for you to step up and take charge of your future.

“ETHICAL BEHAVIOR AND PROTOCOLS IN THE WORKPLACE”

INTRODUCTION

24
CVCITC
Cagayan Valley Computer and Information Technology College
No. 28, Carreon St., Centro East, Santiago City

Workplace ethics are really important. Many things can get it wrong within

the workplace if there's no feeling of ethicality. You may even lose your job as a result

of an absence of ethics, or suffer other consequences because of an absence of

compassion or morals.

The workplace could be a place where you must treat others with respect and

dignity, and a powerful sense of ethics is important for maintaining these moral values.

OBJECTIVES

 To get knowledge on how to perform or act in the workplace.

 To learn how to be a good employee properly.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Ma'am Kezzia Joy D. Saguiped spoke about ethical work conditions. She asked

One of the most challenging aspects of time management is deciding what to do

first. Setting priorities may be simple when you have a regular schedule or simply one or

two high-priority activities, but prioritization can become stressful when you have a lot

on your daily agenda or projects of competing importance.

OBJECTIVES

 To learn how to properly manage your time.

 To learn how to properly define goals and objectives.
 To learn how to prioritize your responsibilities.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Sir Napol G. Cagaban, discussed time management and prioritization. Before

proceeding to his lecture he prepared a video presentation by Don Howe. It seems in

the video presentation that our physical and mental health is very vital when it comes to

setting priorities.

He believes that time management and prioritization are essential in one's personal

and professional life. They say no matter how effectively you prioritize; there's only so

much you can get done in day distractions are unavoidable. In our life, we’re not rushing

things indeed all we can do is just to make sure that we fulfill our priorities in life.

He also gave us some tips on how to conduct ourselves in our future careers. It's

critical to be realistic while setting objectives and prioritizing work.

Any company has to deal with stress and conflicts. Individual or corporate, they

are unavoidable in all aspects of life. They can be a drag on the company's success if

not handled correctly. The amount of conflict and stress in an organization varies

depending on its culture. However, in order to avoid issues, both must be well-

managed.

OBJECTIVES

 To understand how to deal with stress in the workplace.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Sir Jeric D. Carreon, said that stress and conflict can be manageable. He also says

that we should be able to manage or deal with stress. In his lecture, he discussed the

majority of people suffer stress at work because some company is very difficult to deal

with what they want and it causes a lot of pressure as employee.

The majority of people believe that workplace conflict comes from more rage and

frustration than they realize. Organizations are made up of people from a variety of

cultural, professional, ethnic, age, and other demographic backgrounds. When

individuals are divided by differences in variety, cultural conflict occurs.

Once appropriate strategies for coping with diversity are implemented, organizations

gain from enhanced employee creativity and creative potential.

Employee rights are currently one of the most contentious issues in healthcare.

employers from discriminating against prospective employees based on race, sex,

religion, national origin, physical disability, or age.

OBJECTIVES

 To establish qualification facts.

 To understand the idea of workplace equality or fairness.
 To be knowledgeable about an employee’s rights and responsibilities

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

Mr. Fredencio R. Dasalla Jr., talked about "Basic Employee Rights and

Privileges," which covered legal worker rights, worker obligations, and responsibilities,

as well as management and management privileges.

He also discussed employee benefits, working days and hours, salaries, safe

working conditions, rest days and holidays, and other topics. As graduate students,

we’re on the point of entering the next stage of our lives: the workplace. If we want a

decent working environment, we must first understand our rights and responsibilities.

Employees must also report unjust treatment to the Labour Department,

according to him. "Works offer you meaning and purpose of life without it is empty," the

speaker said at the end of the webinar.
