PROF ED 8 – TECHNOLOGY FOR TEACHING & LEARNING IN THE ELEM. GRADES
ACTIVITY 1-3

Activity 1- Something to think about

1. Why is taking a closer look at teaching-learning process an important place to start when
studying educational technology?
 Since the teacher develops a lesson plan based on the requirements and interests of
each student, teachers and aspiring educators need to be prepared or acquire the
technical abilities to use these tools effectively. By connecting students to their
teachers, as well as to specialized content, tools, and systems, educational technology
helps students learn more effectively and more independently. It has been
demonstrated that the utilization of open educational resources and other educational
technologies boosts educational productivity by quickening student learning in the
classroom.

2. What is the relationship between educational technology and teaching learning process?
 The relationship of educational technology in the teaching learning process is to
facilitate communication between teachers and their pupils, who interact and have an
impact on each other. Nowadays, I think that every aspect of the teaching and learning
process requires the use of educational technology because it serves all the purposes of
modern education. It has improved the character of the educational process while also
maintaining its structure. In light of this, educational technology is an essential tool for
encouraging student participation in both teaching and learning. In conclusion,
educational technology serves as a tool to support the learning process.

3. Describe your synthesized view of teaching, learning, and technology?

 Teaching is about remembering what it's like to learn, letting students participate in
decision-making, and having faith in their leadership abilities. A teacher will act in a way
that motivates students to constantly learn new things. When you are learning, you
must teach your mind that you are in charge of your education alone. Instead of using
Google to simplify everything, you should practice developing your critical thinking
abilities. As a result of technology, learning is accelerated and course offerings,
experiences, and learning materials are expanded. It also supports full-time learning,
develops modern skills, boosts student engagement and motivation, and supports the
expansion of course offerings, experiences, and learning materials.
Activity 2- Something to talk about
1. Educational technology by itself does not guarantee learning. Rather, it is in how teachers and
students use available technologies that determines whether transformative learning happens.
How can you respond to the different challenges of using educational technology in your area of
specialization?
 With the use of modern technologies, we can concours the challenges brought by the
educational technology. If in case that your teaching place is in a remote area and there
is no internet connection, teachers can download audio visual presentations about the
lesson and show it to them through laptop, since I think most of the teachers already
have a laptop. Aside from that, teachers can also use their cellphones. When it comes to
ignorance to the advance educational technology, teachers can watch video tutorials in
YouTube so that they will be familiarize to the intended tool. The use of technology in
education is anticipated to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall impact of
the learning process. Effective and efficient education implies being able to accomplish
the required goals while spending less money, time, and labor.

2. You have learned about the different learning theories in this chapter. Which of the theoretical
frameworks do you like the most? Why?
 Constructivism is the theoretical framework I prefer the best among the three because
technology and constructivism have a close link and mutually beneficial implementation.
Constructivism claims that learning occurs in contexts, whereas technology refers to the
visual elements and physical settings that draw students in. Compared to teachers that
adhere to other learning philosophies, constructivist educators are more likely to
employ technology in their classrooms and incorporate it into their lessons. The
frequency with which teachers employ technology to improve student learning is
positively correlated with their opinions about instruction being student-centered. The
correlation between constructivist teaching methods and technology use suggests that
teachers who are constructivist-minded promote technology as a valuable learning tool
in their student-centered classrooms.
Activity 3- Something to do
1. Imagine that you are going to teach an event in Philippine history, like the Battle of Mactan, to
the year or grade level of your choice. What immediately comes to mind as you consider how to
discuss this event? Briefly describe how you might want to teach this event?
 Technology has made learning easier than ever before, so we should be able to use it for
more advanced learning. I will use the technology in order to execute the learning more
effectively through film. I believe that an audio-visual presentation is the only way I can
successfully discuss this kind of topic. I think one method a teacher may use to bring up
this topic is by having students read a book about it, but in my opinion, this is
insufficient. A teacher can readily discuss this type of lesson using educational
technology because it emphasizes a deeper understanding of what is being taught.

2. Describe teachers you have had that seem to fit in the theoretical frameworks described in this
chapter. Share your experiences relevant to represent each learning theory.

Behaviorism

 When I was in junior high school, I had a teacher who encouraged us to get a passing
score on her long quiz so that we could exempt the quarterly exam. The impact of this
on me is that I review our lessons so that I can get a high score. Luckily, I did it.

Cognitivism

 My math teacher taught us how to count when I was in primary grade. Now, I am able
to transfer that knowledge when I use it to create a budget proposal.

Constructivism

 One of my high school teachers used to give us an activity where she would assign each
group a topic and then direct us to conduct research on that topic. After that, we are
going to present it to the class and show them our findings.
