Key Difference between Information and
Knowledge
Information is organized data about someone, or something
obtained from various sources such as television, internet etc. So,
information is facts or data being systematically presented in each
context. While knowledge refers to the awareness or comprehension
of a person’s education or experience gained on the subject. It refers
to the relevant and objective information gained through experience.
COMPUTERS AND COMMUNITY
We are all familiar with traditional ways to give back to our community,
including food drives, soup kitchens, or just generally volunteering money or time
to help a local cause. As times are changing, and technology becomes an increasing
presence in our lives, considering ways to include technology in our giving is
necessary. Many underprivileged students and communities do not have access to
technology, a heavily relied upon source of education, information, and
socialization that is becoming increasingly relevant in schools and professional
careers. Food, shelter, and basic life necessities come first, but including technology
in things like community drives is increasingly important. With this comes the
phenomenon of the "digital divide." This concept summarizes the disparities
between underprivileged and wealthier communities with access to technology,
and the social, economic, and other implications on these communities as a result.
COMPUTERS AND COMMUNITY
• Computers and Community Sociologists worry that the advent of the
internet has created a generation of people who
are Narrow and Unsocial
• Modern transportation
• Relevance: Does the connected community have the necessary skills and
technologies? Is there local interest and understanding of the relevance of
Internet access? Are there locally available mobile apps? Is there content in
the local language and relevant to the people in the community?
