HOW TO DISASSEMBLE THE VIBRATING CONE BOTTOM FOR

DISINFESTING THE INSIDE OF SILSYSTEM AND COMBITEX
SERIES MODULAR SILOS WITH FABRIC BODY
USE PRECAUTIONS
The manufacturer accepts no responsibilities for the safety of individuals, goods
and for machine safe operation if maintenance/cleaning operations are not carried
out complying with these instructions.

Before any operation, carefully check that the working area is free of
obstacles, individuals or machines being a potential source of danger.

Do not remove the protection and safety devices from the silo. Before start
up, make sure all protections are properly installed.

For carrying out any maintenance and cleaning operation on the machine
operators shall be equipped with the adequate personal protective equipment
(PPE): safety footwear, protective clothing, helmets, antistatic anti-cut gloves,
antiseptic face mask (in case of food, dangerous and potentially toxic
products).

SAFETY INFORMATION

All the staff working with the silo shall observe the following safety
regulations.

Before any (maintenance) interventions on the silo

Stop the plant and the auxiliary systems:
- empty the silo completely;
- after carrying out pipelines cleaning cycle, stop the product transport line to
which the silo is connected;
- stop the power supply to the silo (set to OFF the power switch of the
switchboard). Make sure the safety systems against unintentional starting are
activated.

Disconnect power supply, block the main disconnector in open position using
the key during the whole intervention.

Isolate the silo from the plant and bring it back to atmospheric pressure.
Wait for the plant to reach room temperature.

During the interventions on the silo

Make sure that all the operations described in the previous section have been
carried out.
Lift/handle possible silo parts using the appropriate equipment.
During cleaning operations with sprays or detergents, strictly follow the relevant
instructions to avoid poisoning by inhalation due to fumes or contact burns.

DISASSEMBLY, REPLACEMENT AND ASSEMBLY OF THE VIBRATIG CONE

BOTTOM
Follow this procedure to disinfest silo inside.
During cleaning operations, take care not to scatter particles and product residues
in the surrounding environment.

Please carefully observe how components are assembled before

disassembling them, so as to avoid mistakes in remounting. Carefully store
all the parts removed during the intervention.

All fixing bolts and nuts removed during the intervention must be replaced
when remounting. Make sure not to mix up differing bolts.

1. - Disconnect the extraction device (rotary valve) from product transport pipes
(Pic. t1-t2).

2. - Loosen the two fixing collars of the extraction valve/vibrating cone separating
element (Pic. t3).

During the operation, hold the extraction valve to prevent it from accidentally
falling to the ground (suspended valve, without supporting feet).

Pic. t3

3. - Carefully remove the extraction valve and the separating element (Pic. t4).

Pic. t4

4. - Provide a support for the vibrating bottom (e.g. place it on the forks of a
forklift) to prevent it from falling to the ground during subsequent disassembly
operations.
5. - Loosen and carefully remove the joint ring of the vibrating cone bottom (Pic. t5).

Between the joint ring and the fabric of silo body there is a steel shim next to
the lock screw. It is to avoid any fabric creases when tightening the joint ring.

6. - Carefully remove the vibrating bottom.

Along the flanged section of the vibrating bottom (Pic. t7) there is a white
seal. Should the latter be extremely worn out, remove and replace it with a
new one. Take care not to scratch the surface of silo vibrating bottom.

7. - It is now possible to enter the silo for its disinfestation through the opening on
the bottom (Pic. t6).

8. - After cleaning operations are completed, properly re-assemble silo vibrating

bottom. Insert it in the fabric ring of silo body, in its original position. Place the joint
ring back in its position, with the steel shim next to the lock screw. Tighten the joint
ring, without forcing and preventing any fabric creases. Make sure you leave the
border of silo body fabric ring out at the bottom (Pictures t7-t8).

9. - Correctly mount back all remaining parts following the disassembling steps in
reverse order.
