PROBLEM STATEMENT
 Install virtual machine software
 Install 4 various nodes over VM (Windows XP, Windows 7, Linux and Windows Server)
 Apply basic networking (use IP as per your university ID) and sharing polices
 With the help of windows server, we need to apply various polices to all nodes or network.
E.g.
o User access system (Add user name as per university ID)
o Block various sites
o Restrict the memory and software installation access
 Make a guide book, add all steps with proper steps and screen shots
SOLUTION
 STEP 1:
Download VMWare Workstation Pro by clicking on this link

 STEP 2:
Install VMWare Workstation Pro after the download has completed (A complete guide is
given below)

 STEP 3:
Download ISO files for the following by clicking on the links
 Windows XP
 Windows 7 Professional
 Ubuntu
 Windows Server

 STEP 4:
Open VMWare Workstation Pro

 STEP 5:
Click on Create a New Virtual Machine and a create a node for Windows XP (A
complete guide is given below – WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION)

 STEP 6:
Click on Create a New Virtual Machine and a create a node for Windows 7 Pro (A
complete guide is given below – WINDOWS 7 INSTALLATION)

 STEP 7:
Click on Create a New Virtual Machine and a create a node for Ubuntu (A complete
guide is given below – LINUX UBUNTU INSTALLATION)

 STEP 8:
Click on Create a New Virtual Machine and a create a node for Windows Server (A
complete guide is given below – WINDOWS SERVER INSTALLATION)
 STEP 9:
Configure the IP Addresses on each node to connect them (complete guides for each
node are given below – WINDOWS XP CONFIGURATION, WINDOWS 7
CONFIGURATION, LINUX UBUNTU CONFIGURATION)

 STEP 10:
Restart the nodes

 STEP 11:
Check if the nodes are connected to each other, send a message from one to another
using the ping command in cmd.

 Select Local Area Network  Select Properties

 Select TCP/IPv4  Configure IP Address

LINUX – UBUNTU CONFIGURATION
 Open Settings  Select the setting icon in the wired
section

 Select the IPv4  Configure the IP Address
