The document describes observations of two children, Cindy age 7 and Hailee age 4, playing with modeling clay at a playground in Libueg Camiling Tarlac, Philippines on September 15, 2022. Cindy was engaged in constructivist play as she used the clay to create a miniature carabao model with distinguishable horns. Hailee was also observed doing constructivist play, making her own vague carabao model with horns but no neck and the face on the torso. Both girls demonstrated developing fine motor skills through their creative free play with the modeling material.

As I watch Cindy, a seven year old girl, play
molding clay, I have observed that the form of play that she is doing is “Constructivist Play”. Through the use of the molding clay she created a miniature version of a carabao. Though the model that she created is a bit vague, the model poses one of the significant traits of a carabao which is the big horn. It takes a while (30 minutes) for Cindy to finish her mini carabao. The fine motor skill of Cindy is somewhat in good development. Date of observation: Sep 15, 2022 Place of observation: Libueg Camiling Tarlac

On the other hand Hailee, a four year old girl
also plays with molding clay, she is also doing “Constructivist Play”. Hailee also created her own version of mini carabao but her version is very vague, her model also poses the horn but it does not have a neck instead she put the face of the carabao on the torso. Hailee does her own version of mini carabao because she wants to do what her playmates are doing. Hailee was persistent on doing her own model but for her age, I was mesmerized by the outcome of her play though it takes a lot of time.
