CONTENT SYNOPSIS
This course is designed to provide the essential foundations of chemistry to prepare students for higher
studies where chemistry or chemistry-related subjects are taught. Students will be exposed to a
thorough introduction to physical and inorganic chemistry, scientific methods, and the development of
skills relevant to the safe practice of science. Coverage of this course includes stoichiometry, atomic
structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, states of matter,
and acid and bases. At the end of this course, the students should be able to apply the concept of
principles, chemical bonding, and reactions in physical and inorganic chemistry to solve problems,
present chemistry-related problems or phenomena using digital appropriate digital software, and display
basic laboratory skills in performing physical and inorganic chemistry experiments.
CLO1 : Apply the concept of principles, chemical bonding and reactions in physical and inorganic
chemistry. (C3, PLO1)
CLO2 : Present chemistry-related problems or phenomena using digital appropriate digital software.
(A2, PLO6)
CLO3 : Display basic laboratory skills in the areas of physical and inorganic chemistry to be
implemented in laboratory works. (P3, PLO3)
