AGE – Growing children and teenagers need more carbohydrates to provide energy and proteins for
growth. They are growing and more active that adults.

GENDER – Men usually do more heavy work and carry out more active activities compared to women.
Therefore, they need more energy than women.

HEALTH CONDITION – People with sicknesses need more nutritious food. This is because they need
more energy to heal

CLIMATE / WEATHER – People who live in cold countries release more heat to the environment.
Therefore, they need more energy to maintain their body temperature.

BODY SIZE – People with bigger bodies need to eat more as they need more energy for their activities
compared to smaller sized people

OCCUPATION – People who do heavy work like farmers, construction workers and cleaners need more
energy. Therefore, their food are higher in carbohydrate compared to those who work in office
