The given graph elucidates the number of athletes who have participated the
Olympics from 1924 to 2012.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that both men and
women shared the same upward trend over the period of 88 years. Also
noticeable is that the number of boys men participating in the contest every year
is overwhelming for compared to women.
Looking initially at the first and the last Olympics in the time in question the
former accounted for recorded approximately 3000 people participated and
almost all of them were men. The latter made up about 4800 and 5900 for
female and male respectively. Standing at 1500, the number of women
participants in 1984 was three-tenths of that of for men. In 1952, the figure of
for male athletes participating in the olympics was 4,500, 9 times higher than
that of for women.
Turning to the line graph, a total of nearly 3000 people participated in the first
Olympics, and the figure then witnessed a steady increased to 6200 in the next

Task 2 (40 minutes) 6.5 (~7.0)
Some people advocate the death penalty for those who commit violent crimes.
Others say that capital punishment is unacceptable in contemporary society.
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the death penalty and give your
opinion.

There are differing views on whether or not violent criminals should be subject
to the death sentence. a Host of people believe that the death penalty should be
retained promoted, whereas others are against it. In from my perspective, this
punishment's negative aspects exceed its positive side.

There is no doubt that the death penalty can occasionally be

advantageous. First, violent crimes have many degrees of severity, but
for murderers and serial killers, the death penalty is inevitable. This
punishment should be used as an vỉtual lesson to show the preciousness
of every life lives are so prescious that when you take someone else's,
you forego the right to yours you must use your own instead. Second,
removing violent offenses from society forever can be consider as one
of the most effective solution to redude the rate of re-offending. Take
serial killers as an example, when their crimes vicious tendencies are
deeply rooted in their blood, there is no guarantee that after being
released they will sink back into their's sinful ways or give up their past to
become a good citizen.

However, a large number of people also oppose this harsh punishment.

Basically, the controversy of this punishment boils down to two main issues:
morality and legality. In terms of morality, this heaviest punishment can be seen
as a complete lack of humanity. Every life is precious so they criminals,
regardless of the atrocities they brought about, should be given one more
chance. Besides, there are no studies showing that any guilty criminal cannot
be reformed. When it comes to legitimacy, wrong results from sentencing are
the most important for prisoners, it means that any wrong or biased judgment or
being influenced by outside factors can convict a person innocent.

In short, I am adamant that this penalty should not be used. Instead we can
apply life imprisonment to those who commit really serious crimes
