Whats up Brad,

I think a lot of us can relate to you in being a down-to-earth, friendly, midwestern type of guy at heart.
That said, could you speak on the biggest lessons you learned from Derek?

As an aside, I remember seeing a Julien video once saying that one night out Derek told you (or maybe it
was J Life, I don’t remember) to stop being so friendly and “approach that girl over there with a vibe like
you’re going to kill her” or something like that lol. One of a few Derek nuggets I’ve heard and I felt
fortunate enough to hear him speak at May’s Chicago Free Tour, hence my intrigue.

We’ve all heard of his legend haha, including some stories here and there, but it’d be awesome to hear
from the mentee himself.

Thanks,

Vince

Alright. Yeah so that knife analogy I actually created myself. Niccccceeee. It’s my legacy.

But I probably got it from the vibe I learned from Derek.

The biggest thing I learned from him was DOMINANCE. He’s said what he learned from me was more of an entitlement, self
esteem, vibe.

So if I look at those two things in concert, because I came from a pretty solid background, had a cute girlfriend, it wasn’t like I
didn’t feel deserving, but my midwestern nice guy background was holding me back from pushing things forward fast, and I
basically pussy footed around or waited for the girl to give me permission before making a move.

So basically it was learning how to take what I want, and get some “edge.” Like reading books like Pimp, and listening to
gangster rap, swearing a bit more etc, so I wasnt the soft nice guy from the midwest.
