INTRODUCTION:
This course basically covers a general introduction to the general principles and the various factors involved in the
Malaysia Legal Systems. It serves to provide some basic knowledge on how the Malaysian Legal System Works and
its impact on people’s lives and society

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the course is to assist learner to:
1) be able to understand how Malaysian Legal System works.
2) be able to understand the fundamental rights provided under the constitution

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of the course, the learner should be able to:
1) Explain the meaning, functions and classification of Malaysian legal system.
2) Identify the various sources of law
3) Explain the operations of law and institutions related to it.

COURSE STRUCTURE:

Contact hours : 4.5 Hours per week / 54 hours

COURSE POLICY/ATTENDANCE POLICY


Learner are required to abide by the university’s Academic Regulation pertaining to all matters during their course
of study. Learners are advised to take note that class attendance is very important. Learners who do not meet the
attendance requirement will be barred from sitting for the final examination.

You are expected to fulfill the following requirements of the course to obtain a grade:

FORUM PARTICIPATION:
Students have to participate in any online forum discussions in UNIEC virtual. Instruction is provided in UNIEC
virtual.

that demonstrate serious and deep reflection expressed in a clear manner.

9.5 - Student makes a positive contribution to the discussion with some creative/original insights that demonstrate
reflection expressed in a clear manner.

8.5 - Student makes a positive contribution to the discussion with little creative/original insight but shows that the
student reflected on the material being discussed and is expressed in a reasonably clear manner.

7.5 - Student makes a positive contribution to the discussion with little evidence of creative/original thought but
shows some reflection on the material being discussed yet expressed in a less than clear manner.

5.0 - Student makes a positive contribution to the discussion with little evidence of creative/original thought with
limited signs of reflection on the material being discussed and expressed in a less than clear manner.

0.0 - Student contribution is not considered helpful to the forum discussion.

Instruction is provided in UNIEC virtual.

Assignment : 30%
Students are required to conduct a research on selected topics given by the tutor. Students must work in the group of
not more than five (5) per group. Students will use their critical thinking, communicating ideas among them and
appreciate diversity for this group presentation. Research data is to be compiled into a report form for submission.
Outcome of the research will be discuss in the class.

Midterm: 20%
Students need to answer the midterm test in class.

Final Examination (50%)


Final examination coverage will be announced by course leader. Students may refer to the test plan posted UNIEC
for coverage. Students who are unable to sit for the exam on the stipulated date must produce necessary document(s)
to enable themselves to sit for special exam. All arrangements must be made through the Exam Unit.
