CM : Whattime do you wake up in the morning?
MZ : That depends, There are two modes. 1 keep programmer timeここ「etimes・ When you’re
at your computer you can get distracted by other peopie, SO PrOgrammerS tend to stay
up reaIiy late and work when everyone eise in asleep. So it’s not rea=y uncommon for
me to stay up unt= 6 0r8 jn the morning. The other mode is when i have a meeting" The
business worid does not operate between 5 p,m. and 8 a.m., SO that requires some waking
up for. The two kinds of go together weil because sometimes l’m waking up at 8 a.m. and
SOmetimes l’m going to bed at 8 a.m. So i’= go for three days without sleeping, Which is
「ea=y sweet.

MZ : I haven’t eaten breakfast in a iong time. The only time I eat breakfast is when l have
meetings that ea「ly in the moming. Usua=y it’s a iate lunch and then a Iate dinner and then

MZ : The idea for the website was motivated by a sociai need at Harvard to be abie to identify

enjoyed bu脚ng things and putte「ing around with computer code, SO i sat down and in
about a week l had produced the basic workings of the site.

MZ : Yeah, butthe goai was neverto be e闘St. We had a launch p[an to enter into othercolieges
based on where friends wouid be mos=ikeiy to overiap, SO the site spread organicaliy
based upon that modei and now we operate on a broad spectrum of campuses一!t doesn’t
make sense to exciude anybody or any coilege from the resources that伽efacebookoffers.
