If Diaspora writers who live in exile suffer issues of loss of identity, displacement and
nostalgia to homeland, what about women who are in exile who bear double burden besides
being in the exile. Diaspora women’s writings are the mere reflection of what a woman can be
in a western society, suffering from marginalization, ect. Their literature have things
(features) in common Diaspora literature whereas, they have other points in contrast.
All post colonial writers suffer from being culturally colonized and being the outcome of
the horrible circumstances they lived in or witnessed during their childhood. Most of women
writers shard the idea that their writings try in a way or another to be “… about the business
of finding new angles enter reality; the distance, geographical culture enables new structures
of feeling. It resists cultural authoritarianism and challenges official truths.” (Aizaz, 39)
according to the quotation, Diaspora women writings share the idea of being displaced both
culturally and geographically. These characteristics are shown in their choice of their
characters in their literary works. In fact, women writings prefer to talk about marginalized,
displaces women they prefer to talk about uprooted characters who can’t find their lost selves
The lost of identity is not the only theme shared by women Diaspora writers, but also the
revolutionary spirit they have against all cultural authority and challenges of official truths.
