I. Introduction

The current sudden inflation of prices in the world has dealt shock to the people
due to the lack of resources retrieved from various sources and increase in demand for
energy. These events led people to develop and create new ways to convert natural
resources into a type of energy that is capable of sustaining and alleviating the effects
brought by these terrible events. One of which we can consider are hydroelectric dams,
structures that are built across a stream or river to hold back flowing water. These dams
can be used to store rainwater or freshwater and control flooding within a city. Likewise,
it can be used as well to act as a generator to produce electricity for a city. In our design
project, it will be almost as similar to how these hydroelectric dams are. Except the
power that the water generates and earns comes from one source only. From one of the
most used fixtures inside a house or establishment, a toilet. The design aims to use the
built-up speed used from toilets and convert them into a reliable source of electricity
supply in order to give affordable and sustainable energy to each and every household, to
cities and communities as well.

II. Design Overview

In the invention of the Veloci-toilet, it will convert the built-up speed coming from
the toilet to produce a reliable source of electricity supply for every household that has
this design project. From this design project, it can achieve the Sustainable Development
Goals 7, 11, and 12 that was implemented by the United Nations.

For SDG 7, the design project aims to have affordable and sustainable energy by
using the built-up speed of toilets that are on every household to convert it into energy. It
can help a community that has no stable electricity as it provides sustainable energy.

For SDG 11, the design project aims to ensure sustainable cities and communities.
With the use of the Veloci-toilet, it provides a community with sustainable and very
affordable energy as it is produced by a toilet.
For SDG 12, the design project intends to contribute to a more sustainable
production and consumption. In this project, the main material that is needed is a toilet
which is a sanitary hardware that is available in every household.

III. Major Components

The major components needed for the “Veloci-Toilet” design project to work are as
follows:

● Generator - DC motor generators will be used for our design project. The energy created
in the toilet will be the source of energy of the generator.

● Shaft and bearing - The shaft will be the one that will transmit power and support the
DC motor generator. While the bearings will be supporting the shaft to keep the air gap
small and consistent and transfer the loads from shaft to the motor.
● Screw and bolts - This set of components will be the one that will hold the objects
together. They provide more strength and holding power. Bolts will hold the toilet to the
floor and keep it connected to the flange. While screws will be the one to secure the toilet
by screwing in the bolts. The kind of bolts we’re using are the Anchor bolts.

● Impeller - This component will act as a propeller to increase the water pressure and flow
rate of water inside the tank. Impeller also in our design will be the one that will make the
shaft rotate, and by that motion, the generator will produce energy.
IV. Operation

● To operate the system, the user will push the toilet handle just as other toilets perform.
However, the difference here is that the movement of the water causes the impeller to
spin. Because of the movement of the impeller, it causes the shaft to also rotate, causing
the DC motor to produce electricity. That electricity will either be consumed or stored in
a battery. The system is installed under the flush valve. This enables the system to
activate once there’s a flush.
