GST DAY 2022 : 1ST JULY
GST Day is celebrated every year on 1st
July to commemorate the implementation of
Goods and Services Tax (GST). GST Day
was first observed on 1st July 2018, marking
the 1 year anniversary of the implementation
of the new tax regime.
GST was launched on the intervening night of
30th June & 1st July 2017 at a function held
in the Central Hall of Parliament. GST
replaced the old indirect tax system in India.
This was introduced with the idea of ‖One
Nation-One Market-One Tax‖. In year 2022
marks the 5th anniversary of GST.

Goods and service tax (GST) :
GST is an indirect, multilevel, consumption
based tax system. It subsumes several
domestic indirect taxes such as service tax,
purchase tax, value added tax, excise duty &
others into a single item. However, items
including petroleum, liquor & stamp duty have
not been added to GST. These items follow
the old tax system.
History :
The idea of introducing a new tax regime
came into existence when a committee was
constituted in 2002 to draft the GST laws.
This committee submitted its report in 2004.
Later in 2006, the Finance Minister proposed
to introduce GST on 1st April, 2010. It took
more than 17 years for the implementation of
GST laws.
NATIONAL DOCTOR’S DAY 2022 :
1ST JULY
India celebrates National Doctor’s Day on 1st
July, the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan
Chandra Roy, an eminent physician,
educationist, freedom fighter & politician.
Doctors Day is celebrated on different dates
around the world. The date varies from
country to country. National Doctor’s Day
marks the role of doctors who work tirelessly
to ensure that patients remain in good health.
The day celebrates the efforts put in by
healthcare workers for their hard work &
dedication.

History :
When this day was first established in 1991.
Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy is remembered on this
day. He was a renowned physician and the 2nd
CM of West Bengal. Interestingly, his
birthday & death anniversary are on the same
day. The day honors Dr. Roy and also
recognizes everyone’s effort for the patients.
Significance :
The government has been celebrating
Statistics Day to popularize the use of
statistics in our daily lives. Many people
do not know the importance of
statistics. This day is celebrated since
2007.

Day was marked by the United Nations
General Assembly at its 74th plenary meeting
on 6 April 2017. The move came after the
International Small Business Council (ICSB)
announced the 2016 World Conference to
recognize the urgent need. Role of MSMEs in
Global Development.
Significance :
The 5th anniversary of MSME is being
celebrated on 27th June, 2022. So as per the
requirement of the market more MSMEs
should be settled which will not only boost the
economy but will also provide employment to

The International Day Against Drug Abuse
and Illicit Trafficking, also known as World
Drug Day, is organized by the United Nations.

psychological impact of drug abuse, drug
overdose deaths & drug-related human crises
with the aim of eliminating this menace from
society.

Significance :
The United Nations Office on Drugs and
Crime (UNODC) has taken forward
the #CareInCrises campaign to celebrate
World Drug Day this year. It highlights data
from its annual World Drug Report and urges
governments, world citizens, international
organizations and every stakeholder to
prevent drug abuse, provide treatment, and
restrict illicit drug supplies.
History :
The date of June 26 was chosen to
commemorate the campaign of Lin Zexu, a
prominent Chinese statesman and philosopher
of 18th–19th century China, who destroyed,
from 3rd June, 1839, about1.2 million
kilograms of opium illegally imported by
British traders into China. Zexu’s successfull
campaign was over in 23 days.

MINISTER OF ISRAEL.
Yair Lapid officially became Israel’s 14th
prime minister at midnight between 30th
June & 1st July 2022. Lapid’s term may be
shortened as he took over as caretaker
government ahead of Israel’s election on 1st
November.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has

PM MODI MEETS PRESIDENT OF THE
UAE, SHEIKH MOHAMED BIN ZAYED
AL NAHYAN IN ABU DHABI
PM Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with
the President of the United Arab Emirates,
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu
Dhabi on 27th June 2022.
The two leaders reiterated their commitment
to further deepen and diversify the India-
UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It
was the 1st personal meeting between the 2
leaders since August 2019 when the PM
visited Abu Dhabi.
The main purpose of the visit was for the
Prime Minister to offer his personal
condolences on the passing of Sheikh Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahyan in May 2022. Mr Modi
expressed his condolences to Sheikh
Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as well as
other members of the royal family. He
congratulated Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al
Nahyan on being elected as the 3rd President
of the United Arab Emirates and on becoming
the Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
IRAN LAUNCHED A SOLID FUELED
ROCKET ZULJANA INTO SPACE
Iran has launched a solid fueled rocket into
space. Defense ministry spokesman Ahmed
Hosseini said the 25.5-metre-tall rocket

would eventually collect data in low-Earth
orbit and boost Iran’s space industry.
Zuljanah is named for the horse of Imam
Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

However, it drew a rebuke from Washington
ahead of the expected resumption of stalled
talks on Tehran’s nuclear deal with world
powers. The White House said it was aware of
Iran’s announcement and criticized the move,
calling it unhelpful and destabilizing. The
White House said it was committed to using
sanctions and other measures to stop Iran
from moving forward in its ballistic missile
program. Iran, which has long said it does not
want nuclear weapons, maintains its satellite

G7 SUMMIT 2022 : PM MODI VISIT

German Presidency on 26-27 June 2022

2022 :
G7 is an informal forum of major
industrialized countries, which
include Canada, France, Germany, Italy,
Japan, the United Kingdom, the
United States. EU representatives are
always present at the annual meeting of the
G7 heads of state and government. Germany
holds presides the G7 summit in 2022.
Invited Guests in G-7 Summit 2022 :
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has invited
India, Argentina, Indonesia, Senegal
and South Africa as partner countries to
the 2022 summit. The G7 president has
announced Ukraine’s President
Volodymyr Zelensky will attend
virtually on 27th June.
The leaders of the Group of Seven
(G7) began three-day talks in
Germany’s Bavarian Alps on 26th
June. One of the 1st announcements was a
$600 billion infrastructure initiative to help
developing countries tackle climate change.
The initiative is being seen as the West’s
response to China’s massive Belt and Road
Initiative (BRI).

vehicle was launched using twin under-slug
boosters that provide the initial acceleration
to the vehicle. It is powered by a small gas
turbine to sustain a long endurance flight at

along with indigenous radio altimeter for high
altitude flight of target aircraft & data link

FLIGHT TESTED with. This vehicle is programmed for fully
automatic flight.
Exercise – High Speed Expandable Aerial
Target (HEAT) was successfully flight tested
on 29th June, 2022 from the Integrated
Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, off the coast
of Odisha. The flight test demonstrated the
performance of the aircraft at low altitudes
with constant level and high maneuverability.
The target aircraft was flown from a ground
based controller in a pre-determined low
altitude flight path which was monitored by
various tracking sensors deployed by ITR
including radar and electro-optical targeting
system.

ISRO LAUNCHED PSLV-C53 ROCKET
ON 30TH JUNE
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)
is set to launch PSLV-C53 rocket carrying
three satellites Singapore at 6.02 pm on 30th
June. The rocket PSLV-C53 carrying three
Singapore satellites took off from the space
center at Sriharikota by Satish Dhawan. The
25-hour countdown is well underway for the
mission that began 29th June evening. Six
nano-satellites, including two private space
startups from India, will also go into space in
30th June mission.

It is the 55th mission of PSLV. There are 3
satellites—DS-EO and NeuSAR—both
belonging to Singapore and built by the
Stareck Initiative, Republic of Korea, while
the 3rd is the 2.8 kg Scub-1 from Nanyang
Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
