the world. International Criminal Justice
Day is celebrated by honoring individuals
who work to advocate for the fundamental
human rights of victims affected by
criminal acts. On this day the International
Criminal Court (ICC) was formally
established after the adoption of the Rome
Statute.

The theme of the Day in 2022 is ‘Achieving
Social Justice through Formal
Employment’.

17th July is celebrated as the World Day
for International Justice as the day marks
the anniversary of the adoption of the
Rome Statute in 1998. With the help of

Minister.

WILDLIFE CONSERVATION
 A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
between India and Namibia aims to bring
back cheetahs to the country after
nearly seven decades.
 The 1st eight cheetahs are expected to
arrive in Kuno National Park in Madhya
Pradesh by 15th August. Separately,
India is estimated to have received
twelve cheetahs from South Africa;
According to officials familiar with the
situation, a draft agreement has already
been signed and a final settlement is
being done.
 69 years after the last known cheetah
was hunted in Chhattisgarh in 1952, the
animal will re-enter a wild enclosure in
India.

 India crossed the milestone of delivering
nearly 200 crore (2 billion) Covid-19
vaccine doses on 17th July 2022, nearly
a year and a half after launching the
campaign in January 2021.
 The country 1st crossed the 100 crore
milestone (1 billion) doses were given in
the 9 months since the vaccination
campaign began on 21st October in
2021.
 The milestone comes after the
government provided free preventive
doses to all adults for 75 days from
15th July 2022 to commemorate 75
years of India‟s independence, leading to
an increase in the number of
vaccinations.

WOMAN BECOMES 15TH PRESIDENT
OF INDIA
 Draupadi Murmu has been elected as the
15th President of India.
 The Returning Officer for Presidential
Elections and Secretary General of
Rajya Sabha PC Modi announced the
election of Ms Murmu after the counting
of votes was completed on evening of
21st July.
 Ms Murmu got 64% of the vote and
opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha got
36% of the vote.
 The Secretary General said that out of
4754 valid voters, Murmu got the votes
of 2824 lawmakers including 540 MPs
and the value of the vote is 676803.
 Mr Sinha got the votes of 1877
lawmakers including 208 MPs and the
value of the vote is 380177.
 Ms. Murmu is the 1st tribal woman and
the 2nd woman to hold the post of
President of India.

KERALA IS THE 1ST AND ONLY

STATE IN INDIA TO HAVE ITS OWN
INTERNET SERVICE

 Kerala is now the 1st and only state in

the country to have its own internet
service, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan,
who made the announcement.
 The announcement comes in the wake of
(KFON) Kerala Fiber Optic Network
Limited, an ambitious IT infrastructure
project of the government to make the
Internet accessible to all in the state,
after receiving an Internet Service
Provider (ISP) license from the
Department of Telecommunications.
 Kerala Fiber Optic Network (KFON)
scheme is envisaged to provide free
internet to BPL families & 30,000
government offices.
 The previous Left government had
declared internet connection as a
fundamental right in 2019 & launched
the Rs 1,548 crore Kerala Fiber Optic
Network (KFON) project.
