FREE DAY 2022 : 3RD JULY
International Plastic Bag Free Day is held
on 3rd July 2022.
In year 2022, is the 13th edition of the
celebrations.
It is celebrated to spread worldwide
awareness that a plastic bag free world is
possible & that there are sound
environmental alternatives to single use
plastic bags.
This day is an initiative to get rid of single
use plastic bags across the world &
promote environment protection by
encouraging all of us to stay away from the
use of plastic bags.

History :
The 1st International Plastic Bag Free Day
was observed on 3rd July 2008, when it
was started by ReZero, a member of Zero
Waste Europe (ZWE). The holiday was
celebrated only in Catalonia in its inaugural
year. However, a year later, ZWE
launched the International Plastic Bag Free
Day for the European Union.
Significance :
The main goal of the day is to raise
awareness about the increasing harm
caused to the environment by the use of
this non-biodegradable substance. This is
worrying to learn that a plastic bag takes
1,000 years to decompose in a landfill,
despite the fact that collective efforts
over the past 10 years have so far reduced
the impact.

JOINS SEYCHELLES DEFENCE
FORCE FOR CELEBRATION OF
SEYCHELLES NATIONAL DAY
The Indian Navy contingent joined
Seychelles Defense Force personnel &
Seychelles citizens for the Independence
Day celebrations on 3rd July 2022.

A military parade that is the highlight of

the Seychelles National Day usually
celebrated on 29th June, the day it gained

NATIONAL MONUMENTS
AUTHORITY HAS
RECOMMENDED BABASAHEB
TO BE DECLARED AS
MONUMENTS OF NATIONAL
IMPORTANCE.
National Monuments Authority has
recommended two sites associated with
Babasaheb Ambedkar, the architect of the
Constitution of India, to be declared as
monuments of national importance.
The Culture Ministry said, Sankalp Bhoomi
Banyan Tree Complex in Vadodara, where
Dr. Ambedkar took a pledge to eradicate
untouchability on 23rd September 1917,
should be declared a monument of national
importance.
This place is more than a hundred years old
and witnesses the beginning of the social
respect revolution started by Dr.
Ambedkar.
National Monuments Authority has also
recommended a place in Satara,
Maharashtra where Dr. Ambedkar received
his primary education at Pratap Rao
Bhosale High School to be declared as a
monument of national importance.

NITI AAYOG CEO AMITABH
KANT TO BECAME NEW
SHERPA OF G-20
Sources said on 7th July that former NITI
Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has replace Union
Minister Piyush Goyal as the new Sherpa of
the G20.
Amitabh Kant was the CEO of NITI Aayog
for nearly six years and completed his
extended tenure last month.
Goyal has served as the G-20 Sherpa of
the country since September 7, 2021.
India will assume the presidency of the
G20 later this year.
GITA GOPINATH BECAME THE
1ST WOMAN TO FEATURE ON
IMF‟S „WALL OF FORMER
CHIEF ECONOMISTS‟
India-born Gita Gopinath became the 1st
woman and 2nd Indian to feature on the
International Monetary Fund‟s (IMF) „Wall
of Former Chief Economists‟.
Gopinath had served as the 1st female
chief economist of the Washington-based
global lender for 3 years.

The 1st Indian to receive the honor was
Raghuram Rajan, who was the IMF‟s chief
economist & director of research between
2003 and 2006.
Gopinath was appointed as the Chief
Economist of the IMF in October 2018 and

Deputy Managing Director in December last
year.

Sini Shetty from Karnataka became the
winner of Femina Miss India World 2022 at
the grand finale of VLCC Femina Miss India
at JIO World Convention Center in Mumbai
on 3rd July 2022.
She has now represent India at the 71st
Miss World pageant.
The 1st runner-up of Femina Miss India
2022 is Rubal Shekhawat from Rajasthan

GEETIKA HAVE WON GOLD
MEDALS IN KAZAKHSTAN.
The reigning youth world boxing champions
Alfia Pathan & Geetika have won gold
medals at the Elorda Cup in Nur-Sultan,
Kazakhstan on 4th July.
Two other Indian women boxers : Kalaivani
Srinivasan & Jamuna Boro signed on with
silver medals.
In the women‟s 81 kg final, Alfia defeated

Lazzat Kungeibayeva 5–0.
Geetika registered a thrilling 4-1 win over
compatriot Kalaivani in the All India
Women‟s 48kg final.

on the final day, the 33-member Indian
contingent ended its campaign with a total
