MICRO-PROJECT REPORT
 1.0.RATIONALE

From the given micro-project we learned about a model of

elliptical trammel industry & college and also studied about
the applications in various fields.

2.0.AIM
Prepare a model of elliptical trammel.

3.0. COURSE OUTCOME ADDRESSED

1.To introduce the approaches and mathematical models
used in kinematic and dynamic analysis of machinery.
2.To give basic knowledge on kinematics and dynamic design
of machinery.

4.0.LITERATURE REVIEW
An elliptical trammel is used to draw the ellipses of various
sizes .It is an inversion of double slider crank chain in which
there are 2 slider pairs and 2 turning pairs.

5.0.ACTUAL METHODOLOGY FOLLOWED

In order to complete this Micro-project of Manufacturing

process we have searched for required information on internet
and referred text book and then understood the general steps
involve in measurement and its application in industry.

7.0 OUTPUTS OF MICRO-PROJECT

From the given micro-project we learned about Prepare a model

on injection moulding in industry & college and also studied
about the applications in various fields.

In the complete duration of the micro project, each of the

team members has learned:

Effective Communication
Communicating effectively.This develop how to approach
people,create meaningful relationships with team member,and
articulate a clearly established vision of what you wish to
achieve.

Negotiation
From managing resources,to dealing with team conflict,leading
a project means constantly being involved in negotiations.
An effective project manageris often ask ilful negotiat or with
the ability to keep involved parties content and working toward
a unified goal at all times.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

While critical thinking is a skill all professionals could benefit
from learning,it is particularly useful in the project
management discipline.
Rather than being reactive, the best project leader are proactive
and use their critical thinking skills to navigate through tricky
or ambiguous projects.
 What is Elliptical Trammel
A trammel of archimedes is a mechanism that generates the shape
of an ellipse. It consist of 2 shuttles which are confined to
perpendicular channels or rails and a rod which is attached to
shuuttles by pivot at fixed position along the rod.

Construction
Since Elliptical Trammel consist of two turning pairs and
two sliding pairs,it is inversion of double slider crank chain.
This instrument is used to drawing ellipses.This inversion
is obtained by fixing a slotted palte ( link4).It has got two
right aligned grooves cut into it.1-2 is turning pairs 2-3 is
turning pairs 1-4 is sliding pair 3-4 is sliding pair.

Working
When one of the slider is given reciprocating motion it is
transmitted to another slider through the link PB .It is
observed that while the two slider slide into respective slots
the pt.P traces the path of an ellipse. The major axis and minor
axis of the ellipse van be changed by changing the point which
traces the path of an ellipse.
 Application of Elliptical trammel
It is used in automatic tool changer in a machining .

1.Elliptical Trammel are used for drawing large ellipses.

2.They can be used to draw smaller ellipses but any draw
one half at a time,having to be reserved to draw the
complete
ellipse.
