HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY

Every human being must learn to be honest. Honesty means truth. If a

person wants to be honest, he must learn to speak the truth in life. Children

learn honesty from their parents, elders, and teachers. Every child must have

learned the phrase ‘Honesty is the best policy.’

There are several benefits of honesty. Honesty helps in the development

of morally strong characters. If you are honest, you will not be afraid of

anything, and you do not have to remember any false stories. Honesty helps to

develop positive attributes like truthfulness, discipline, moral integrity,

kindness, and much more. Being honest will certainly result in high – quality

friends. This friendship will be very close and strong from the bottom of heart

and mind.

When a person tells lies often, very soon, people realize that person is a

liar. Then people will never believe that person. People have no respect for

such that person. Gandhiji always spoke the truth, even if he knew that he

would be punished for what he said. So we must follow morality of our

“Bapu”.

It is rightly said, “Honesty is the best policy”. An honest person can

command the respect of everybody. Honesty gives a person confidence to face

anything. So, everybody should practice honesty from childhood. It greatly

depends on the parents and their upbringing.

A VISIT TO A HILL-STATION

Our school closed for summer vacation on 10 th May. It was very hot in

Agartala and I had just finished my half-yearly exam. So, I requested my

parents to take me to some hill-station to get some relief from the scorching

heat of the sun. Then my parents decided to go to Mussoorie. I was

overwhelmed with joy to hear the name of the hill-station as I have read about

Mussoorie in many books.

On 13th May we took a flight to Delhi. From Delhi we went to Dehradun

and from there we took a private car and reached Mussoorie in the afternoon

and put up at a hotel. Mussoorie is one of the best hill stations of India. It is

called the Queen of hill stations. It has many tourist spots.

Next day after breakfast, we went to see the town. We visited the library

and London Markets. They were crowed with tourists from different parts of

the country. We too moved from shop to shop and purchased many things. We

also enjoyed the beautiful sceneries around to our heart’s content. These places

are worth a visit. We went to the skating hall and saw how people skated, I did

not dare to skate. We saw the Kempty Fall and had a view of the snow capped

mountains.

Mussoorie has a healthy climate. It is a beautiful summer resort. The

mountain slopes are covered with tall green trees which present a charming

sight at sunset and look very grand. A cool breeze sets up and refreshes the

mind. I felt happy in the company of nature. We stayed there for a week and

returned to Agartala reluctantly. The memory of my visit to Mussoorie is still

fresh in my mind.
