    There are three types of scalp haematomas: 1) Subcutaneous haematomas which are small, dense and painful masses that move with the scalp over the skull. 2) Subaponeurotic haematomas, also known as subgaleal haematomas, which are large fluctuating haematomas underneath the scalp that extend from the forehead to the back of the head and sides of the head. 3) Subpericranial haematomas, also called cephal haematomas, which typically occur in newborns due to birth trauma and are limited by suture lines to a single bone, usually the parietal bone.

    Scalp Haematoma

    ⁕ Types:
    1-Subcutaneous haematoma:
    • Small dense painful moves with the scalp over the
    skull
    .
    2-Subaponeurotic haematoma: (Subgaleal
    haematoma)
    • The scalp float over a large fluctuating haematoma
    extends from supra-orbital margins, to nuchal lines
    and laterally to temporal lines .

    3- Subpericranial haematoma: (Cephal haematoma)


    • Usually occur in newly born due to birth trauma .
    • The haematoma is limited by the suture lines to one bone. (Usually parietal bone).
