Are you familiar with the song above? What classical story is shown in
it? Can you give textual evidences to prove that it may be an
interpretation or is based on the said story?
The example above is an Audio presentation based on a literary
text. Audio is relating to the sound that is heard on a recording or
broadcast. It is important because it can tell us about character, place,
and time. It also informs us and moves us in ways visuals can’t, and
because certain combinations of sound and visuals can evoke what
neither can do alone and can determine what we see.
In fact, there are many other songs or podcasts that we listen to
today which as well present insights or interpret literary pieces.
Do you know other examples? Can you give one?

Visual Media are pictures produced by a

camera, artist, mirror. It is important in
presenting literary text through multimedia
because our brain can interpret images
much quicker than text. Additionally,
images give depth and context to a
description or story and provide a much
more immersive experience than writing
alone. Examples of this format are the
Marvel stories presented in a comic strip.

Are there other images or digital arts you’ve seen which may
represent a certain literary text? What story did it highlight?
Motion media use a series of drawings, computer graphics,
frames or photographs of objects that are slightly different from one

3
another and that when viewed quickly one after another create the
appearance of movement. These raw files are then processed using
online or offline video application to produce a content combining
images, texts and sound.
Using this form of media may then entice more to appreciate
literature and have better understanding of it. For instance, the movie
adaptation of the Harry Potter series has made millions of viewers
appreciate the novel series written by J.K. Rowling. The same is true
with varied children’s books now having video or animation
presentations for kids to better enjoy such stories.

What movies or clips have you seen which are based on a certain
literary text? What story did it highlight?

1. Read and understand the reading selection very well. Write

down your insights and reflections about it.
2. From your understanding of the text, you may draft a story

your chosen medium.
3. You may begin writing your script (for video), or words and
lyrics (for audio).

pictures, drawing images
