In this article „3D Printing in construcion” by Adam Kohut he
introduces us in 3 Printing of houses. He says that 3D printing is the computer-controlled sequential layering of materials to create three- dimensional shapes. It is particularly useful for prototyping and for the manufacture of geometrically complex components. It was first developed in the 1980s, but at that time was a difficult and expensive operation and so had few applications. It is only since 2000 that it has become relatively straightforward and affordable and so has become viable for a wide range of uses including product design, component and tool manufacture, consumer electronics, plastics, metalworking, aerospace engineering, dental and medical applications, and footwear. A 3D digital model of the item is created, either by computer-aided design (CAD) or using a 3D scanner. The printer then reads the design and lays down successive layers of printing medium (this can be a liquid, powder, or sheet material) which are joined or fused to create the item. The process can be slow, but it enables almost any shape to be created. In the construction industry, 3D printing can be used to create construction components or to 'print' entire buildings. Construction is well-suited to 3D printing as much of the information necessary to create an item will exist as a result of the design process, and the industry is already experienced in computer aided manufacturing. Construction 3D printing may allow, faster and more accurate construction of complex or bespoke items as well as lowering labour costs and producing less waste. It might also enable construction to be undertaken in harsh or dangerous environments not suitable for a human workforce such as in space.
I chose this article because I am interested in a 3D printing in construction
The author states that this is the most future-proof construction method and I agree with it 100% and I hope this project/idea will be continuously improved in the future. (1)What have you learnt from the article(s) you have read? I learned a lot about development and the advantages of this method of building houses, I think that the article can easily learn the basic knowledge of 3D printing houses for those who are not interested. (2)What are some important facts you have read about? Printing houses is faster than building them regularly and is eco-friendly. It does not cause much pollution and does not create additional waste. This method can be used not only as a replacement for regular building construction, but also as a complement to it. (3) How do you see the future of the solutions/technologies described in the text(s)?Do you think they will be improved upon, replaced or that they remain the same ? I see the future of this technology very, very well. It seems to me that the construction industry will change by 180 degrees in the future and 3D printing will have a huge impact on that, this technologii will replace regular civil engineering soon (4)Have you ever dealt with the solutions/technologies described in the text(s)? Before I moved from AGH to PWR, one lecturer got me very interested in this topic and conducted classes on it. Unfortunately, I have never had contact with this technology myself Glossary: 1.Additive Manufacturing- Produkcja addytywna(drukowanie przestrzenne) 2.sequential- sekwencyjny 3.Three dimensional(3D)- trójwymiarowy 4.straightforward- bezpośredni 5.simultanceously- równocześnie 6.Computer Aided manufacturing(CAM)- Produkcja wspomagana komputerowo 7.extrude- wytłaczać/wyrzucać 8.printing ink-„tusz”/materiał 9.exceedingly- niezmiernie 10.shape- kształy 11.conduct- przeprowadzić 12.layer- dysza 13.fiber- włókno 14.white cladding- biała okładzina 15.measure- pomiar 16.fir resistance- odporność ogniowa 17.mounted- zamontowane/ustawione 18.gantry crane- suwnica 19.components- komponenty 20.trowelling- zacieranie
