Letter of Application
An application letter is one that seeks for a
job position. It is a sales letter in the sense
that it sells your services to your prospective
employer. The application letter is compose
of two parts the cover letter which is the
application letter itself; and the resume,
which is an enclosure.
Cover Letter (Application letter itself)
A cover letter, also known as a covering letter
or application letter, is a one-page document
that introduces a job seeker's work history,
professional skills, and personal interest in
applying for a job. Overall, your cover letter
(alongside your CV or Resume) helps managers
and recruiters screen your job application.
2 Kinds of Cover Letter
1. Solicited letter which mean that you are responding
to an advertisement for a vacant position that needs to
be filled. The solicited letter should indicate in the first
paragraph the source and the date of the
advertisement, as well as the vacant position applied for.
2. Unsolicited letter, you are only prospecting for a job.
You are only taking chances if your qualifications might fit
the vacancy, should there be one in the company. You
need not cite any source of information regarding the
vacant position.

Here is the guide in the writing of a letter of
application:
Opening paragraph (Orientation part) State the
position you are applying for and indicate that the
letter is solicited by giving the source and date of
advisement of a job hiring (newspaper, job website,
etc.). If a person has suggested that you apply for a
particular position, you may cite the name of that
person in the opening paragraph. If however, the
letter is unsolicited, simply express your interest in
offering your services should be a vacant position.

application:
Middle paragraph (Information part) Indicate your qualification
in relation to the position you are applying for and what you
can do for the company. Highlight your overall education by
showing how your studies prepared you for the work you seek.
Explain how and why you supplemented your major subject
with important electives outside major fields. Also mention the
job you have handled, if any, full time of part time. If you have
had little or no job experience, then mention that you have the
ability to work with people; that you have great interest in the
field you are applying for; and that the mentioned activities
related to the job may be your selling points.
