FEATURE WRITING
The featured article that I chose is all about one of my favorite bands of all time, Slipknot. I
chose this band because I enjoyed their music and especially their genre. Slipknot also just
released their new album “The End, So Far” on September 30, 2022.
Appeal:
The whole reason that Slipknot is so famous is that their sound is so unique, one reason that they
are so unique is that their percussion is described by many as suffocating. They layer their
percussion to allow the listeners to get lost in the almost intoxicating sound of the percussion.
Slipknot have been pushing boundaries since their inception, influencing some of today's most-
innovative heavy bands in the process. Slipknot have always been a band apart. It wasn't just the
masked aesthetic and dead crow-huffing sense of weirdness but also the musical intensity and
outright refusal to compromise.
Plain Facts:
Slipknot have released their seventh album, The End, So Far, as of midnight on Sept. 30. It's now
available to stream, and you can hear it right now. The End, So Far is the Iowa-born masked
metal band's first studio effort since their 2019 album We Are Not Your Kind. Looking back,
Slipknot have been preparing listeners for the album for almost two years. In March 2021,
Slipknot singer Corey Taylor said the effort would be "conceptual." In May 2021, Slipknot
percussionist clown called it "God music." A month later, clown confirmed it would be the
band's final release on Roadrunner Records, their longtime label home.
Personalities:
One of the most famous members of the band is their singer Corey Taylor, he is practically down
to earth with strong ideas about right and wrong. He is orderly, organized, systematic and
controlled, and once committed - he employs decisive and methodical steps to problems solving,
without giving up easily. Corey Taylor works well with others, but it is important that he have
his own responsibility and well-defined task, because he performs better when his
responsibilities are not overlapping with those of others.
Logic:
The article tells the story of this band in order with a very nice flow to it. It talks about the past
from the history of this band to the latest on what they are doing, their thoughts, and their passion
when making this album. This article also informs us the past, present, and future of this band
which is a good thing especially if you want to learn a lot from this band.
Action:
The content on this article is satisfying that’s why readers are going to be hooked on this feature
article. It explains the album very well, the fans who are committed and always eager to hear
their next album, and this article shows how the band members unite as one just to promote their
albums.
Universal/Unique:
The article clearly shows a unique way of telling the readers on what this band is. It hooks the
readers by telling the bands past and undying passion to create more great music for their fans.
Significance:
Personally, this article affects me, and its significance clearly shows by hooking us metal heads
to the story on one of the most famous bands in the history. This band keeps on growing and
growing and us readers/fans are always eager to learn more about their future plans and thoughts
on what ever is on their mind.
Energy:
Without a doubt, the energy on their albums is always amazing. Metal and rock music unleashes
our inner primal instincts to just wreak havoc and be crazy for a while. Their album makes us
more hype knowing that this album is the end of their era preparing us for the next era which
they promise will be better than their previous years.
