The band that has taken over the current indie-rock music scene, just releasing their
second album, and are currently on a world tour after being a headliner of Lollapalooza. This trio
has only been together for five years but was able to build a huge following of indie music lovers
over the few years during COVID-19. Cole Preston, actor Braeden Lemasters, and actor Dylan
Wallows have been releasing music since 2017, but have just now released their second
official album in 2022. They released several singles and then their first EP (Extended Play) in
2018 and their second EP during the initial quarantine of COVID-19 in 2020. They released their
first full album in 2019 that was a major success, and my personal favorite. Their most recent
release has been their “sophomore album” titled Tell Me That It’s Over that was released the
spring of 2022. 10 songs, most written during quarantine, that revolve around young adult love
written in an indie-rock genre. Words from lead singer Dylan Minnette said to NME, “It’s about
when you’re in the early stages of a relationship and you get so worried that the other person’s
mind will change at the flip of a switch,” (NME, 4th February 2022).
I have had the opportunity to see Wallows in concert three times since the release of their
newest album and they definitely do not seem or act like they are one of the biggest names in the
indie-rock music scene. They seem very genuine with only touring through small concert venues
to give their audience a very personal experience. Having listened and watched the band grow
over the past five years, I have seen how much their audience has grown but their humble
personality as a band has stayed the same. Tell Me That It’s Over is a great addition to their
setlist and there is only more to come for the band Wallows.
