STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR EXTRUSION

1. PURPOSE: The Purpose of this procedure is to ensure that all Extrusion Jobs are done
according to set standard.
2. SCOPE: This Procedure covers the handling of Multi-layer, Mono-Layer and PVC Machine in
Crownpack Nigeria Limited.
3 RESPONSIBILITY: The Extrusion Machine Operator are responsible for carrying out
this procedure in Crownpack Nigeria Limited.
4. PROCEDURE:
4.1 Procedure for carrying out Extrusion Process on Extrusion Machine
4.1.1 A verbal instruction/advice backed by work ticket is received from the Shift in Charge by
the machine operators for the Production of a particular job.
4.1.2 Check job number and job specification sheet for the type of job to be produced.
4.1.3 While the job specification has been studied, get the right material (Resin) available for the
job by requisition from store department.
4.1.4. Mix the Resins and master batch for requiring job in the right proportion in the barrel
depending on the type of job to be produced.
4.1.5 Set the machine in the right position, ready for production by replacing filler net, adjusting
temperature and checking the corona treatment.
4.1.6 Collect the appropriate dyne solution from Q.A lab to check the treatment of the film
produced if it is job requiring treatment for example jobs to be printed or laminated.
4.1.7 Proper flushing out of materials must be done to avoid contaminating the job to be
produced.
4.1.8 Check to ensure all tools/items required for a smooth run are in place.
4.1.9 Start the machine and run out samples
4.1.10 Ensure that the job conforms to specification by providing samples for confirmation by QA
before bulk run.
4.1.11 Proper flagging must be done to intimate the next stage of processing of any defect.
4.1.12 Always reconfirm with QA at intervals as production continues.
4.1.13 Operator should ensure that jobs produced are well tagged indicating the type of job, date
of production and roll weight.
4.1.14 Finished goods should be well wrapped and ready for delivery to the next stage of
processing.
