TRAINING: INTRODUCTION TO LAW AND THE JAMAICAN LEGAL SYSTEM


OVERVIEW OF This training will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of law and the Jamaican

 The Jamaican legal system
 The role of law in the society
 Administration of justice in Jamaica
 Overview of the fundamentals of law
 The Jamaican court structure
 Branches & sources of law
 The role of Justices of the Peace within
 Overview of Civil Law and Criminal Law
the justice system

AUDIENCE:

Session 2 - Friday, November 19, 2021 Session 6 - Tuesday, December 14, 2021

TRAINING TIME: 10:00 am to 3:30 pm (each session)

(There will be a cap on the number of persons per session – confirmation for a session will be
one on a first-register-first-confirmed basis)

REQUIREMENTS  Intended participants are required to register for the session they wish to attend by

 For the training, participants will require access to a computer device equipped with a
microphone and a camera (optional), the Internet, the ZOOM software (download)
 Participants will be expected to remain engaged and responsive throughout the
duration of the session

COMPLETION: In order to be confirmed as successfully completing this training, participants should have:
(1) actively participated in the full duration of the training; AND
(2) successfully completed the required assessment (pass mark: 80%).
