Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of processes in sight


word recognition or phonic analysis to read and understand
words and understanding of letter sequence in words to get
meaning.

Performance Standards: The learner uses word recognition techniques to read


and understand words that contain complex letter
combinations, affixes and contractions through theme-based
activities and hears and records sounds in words

Competencies: a. Reading words phrases, sentences and short stories consisting


of words with consonant digraphs -ch, and -sh and other
words previously studied

b. Spelling one-to-two syllable words with initial and


final consonant blends

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are able to:
a. read words phrase, sentences and short stories consisting of
words with consonant digraphs -ch, and -sh and other words
previously studied; and

b. spell one-to-two syllable words with initial and final consonant


blends.

✔ Ability to read digraphs is important because being able to mentally join speech sounds together
to make words will help you decode unfamiliar words using letter sound pattern when reading.
