At our grandparents' home town, my cousins and I would play this game continuously
from dawn till dusk. That's how entertaining and thrilling the game is, I'm not joking. We also
add some tiny adjustments to the game, which then makes it much more entertaining, so we
never get bored or tired of it (I mean, we get exhausted, but that's an other matter). I
remember that day. Playing old, traditional Filipino culture games with those kids in the
provinces was one of the most exhilarating and joyful childhood experiences I've ever had.

WHAT’S MORE: ACTIVITY 1

“Ang pagtulong hindi naman costly, lalo na kung simpleng pag-angat lang ang gusto ng mga
tao. May mga bagay ka na pwedeng itulong sa kanila na hindi ka naman kinakailangang
gumastos ng malaki.”

There are many ways we can help our fellow man without spending money or getting
into financial trouble. People occasionally need help to brighten their moods or even to boost
their courage and self-confidence. Similar to how I generally tell my friends, I want them to
view themselves the way I do because I know they have the potential. It helps to just say,
"You can do it," and "I trust in you and know you can."

There's never a trouble that comes to stay;

There's never a grievance but fades away;
Forget the heart-ache and bravely lend
A helping hand to some sadder friend.

WHAT’S MORE: ACTIVITY 2
1. In the first part of the video, we are introduced to Efren Peñaflorida, 2009 CNN Hero of
the Year. To whom does he compare his friend and mentor, KB Manalaysay?
 Efren Peñaflorida compared his mentor into a salbabida or inflatable life saver.

2. What does he mean by this comparison?

 At a moment when he is drowning in the struggles of life, Efren indicates that KB
is a savior.

3. What was Efren’s problem when KB met him? How was the latter able to help him?
 Efren experienced bullying at the time and he met KB who taught him that he
would help others too just like what he did.

4. How has KB’s simple act of kindness affected Efren? How was it able to affect not only
Efren but many other kids like Kesz, for example?
 Efren was motivated to help others in need, especially young people, because Kb
served as an example for him. Efren constructed a mobile classroom so that he
could offer street kids a chance to listen and learn.

5. What do you think is the message of the video? What lesson does it want to share to
the viewers?
 We commoners, rich or poor, are welcome to contribute in any way we can. Like
KB, he helped Efren inspire him, and Efren in turn inspired other young people.
The two individuals in the video serve as outstanding examples since they
touched the viewers' hearts.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED P21

Students can be inspired to acquire meaning and understandings through the use of
multimedia. The technology can be viewed as a support system for students as they create
and share their interpretations by providing them with aural and visual tools with which to
investigate, expand, clarify, and revise their understandings.

By allowing students to observe and interact with other people's reactions to the same
text, multimedia has the ability to help pupils evaluate different points of view. Access to many
interpretations is possible through text, graphics, audio, and video. As a result, the medium
may encourage the investigation of many viewpoints.

The social context in which literary works might be discussed or experienced with
others can be shaped via multimedia. Images, sounds, and texts that can inspire and
encourage the sharing of reactions are available to students and their teacher in one single
location. Roles and conversation can be shaped around the technology by using it as a
springboard. In other words, multimedia can operate as a catalyst, encouraging conversation
and creating a setting that encourages teamwork and the sharing of experiences.

WHAT I CAN DO P21

I was just seven years old in 2012 at the time. Being a young child, I was utterly
horrified by the tremendous storm and the surging torrent. My younger sibling at the time was
just a year old. When it happened, we were on the second floor of the house, and I watched
as our neighbors froze in fear because they had not prepared.
