4.4 Cleaning operations

The brush rollers are switched off automatically if the brush
motors are overloaded, e.g., due to too high contact pres-
sure or blockage of the cleaning brushes.

4.4.1 Brushing rollers

The two brush rollers have the same speed and opposite
rotation directions and are driven by a toothed belt with a
common motor.

4.4.2 Disk brushes

The two disc brushes have the same speed and opposite
rotation directions and are driven by two motors.

4.4.3 Aqua-Mizer water saving system

Aqua-Mizer wiping lips are placed on the cleaning head.
These enable a water and detergent saving of up to 30%.
Further, the reaction time of the detergent is also in-
creased.

5.18.2 Function
The electromagnetic brake is a parking brake that locks
the appliance in stationary state against moving. The elec-
tromagnetic brake opens with a loud "click" as soon as the
appliance is activated with the key switch and the drive
pedal is activated. The appliance moves in the pre-set
travel direction. The appliance is braked with the drive mo-
tor during operation. The electromagnetic brake closes
with a loud "click" again when the operator leaves the plat-
form when the appliance comes to a standstill.

The device can be pushed aside by pressing the unlocking

lever in the downward direction. In this case the micro
switch deactivates the drive function for reasons of safety.

6.3.2 Check battery
The battery must be fully charged prior to the inspection to
obtain a reliable result.

The following checks must then be made:

Measurement of the idle voltage

The idle voltage provides a measure for the charging sta-
tus of a maintenance-free battery.
If this value is below a certain limit, this indicates that the
battery is not charged.

You can estimate the approximately available charge from

the idle voltage.

12 volt block battery 6 volt block battery Charge approx.

> 12.80 volt > 6.42 volt 100 %

> 12.32 volt > 6.20 volt 50 %
> 12.18 volt > 6.00 volt 25 %
> 12.00 volt > 6.00 volt Deep discharge

The idle voltage should reach at least the following limit

value:
– 12 volt block battery = min. 12.30 volts

If these values are not met, the battery must be charged

first.

6.3.3 Notes regarding the battery
Replacing a battery due to old age
With 12 volt battery blocks, the complete battery set must
be replaced in case of damage.

Taking out of operation

If batteries are not to be used for a while, the following
must be observed when storing them:
– Disconnect the negative battery connection on the bat-
tery and store the cable so that it cannot inadvertently
come into contact with the negative terminal of the bat-
tery.
– Only store batteries while charged.
– The storage location should be cool (the self-discharge
rates will be lower).
– Recharge once the battery capacity is lower than 60%.

Discharge end voltage or total discharge protection

The settings of the discharge end voltage must be checked
to ensure that the runtime of the machine is not limited and
that the battery cannot deeply discharge.

IUIa means:
I = constant current line
U = constant voltage line
I = constant current line recharging
a = automatic switch-off (transition to maintenance charge)

– During the I constant phase, the charger is charged

with the nominal current (see typeplate on charger) and
the charge voltage will increase slower or faster de-
pending on the charge condition. After that, the charger
will switch to U constant phase.
– In the U constant phase, the voltage remains constant
and the current sinks continuously. After that, the
charger will switch to I constant phase.
– In the I constant recharging phase, the voltage will rise
to the values indicated in the diagrams and the current
value remains constant. After that, the charger will
switch to maintenance charge.
– The recharging phase serves to achieve the complete
transformation of the active mass in all cells.
– During the maintenance charge, the fully charged bat-
tery status remains at constant voltage. The mainte-
nance charge has no time limits.

The contact switch of the platform is used for safety rea-
sons.

Note
All functions of the appliance can only be taken into oper-
ation, if the safety switch (S12) is activated.

6.16.9 Adjust the accelerator potentiometer
 Remote the floor plate of the platform (refer to "Remov-
ing the floor plate of the platform")
 Loosen fastening nut.

Note
The accelerator potentiometer must indicate the following
set values in the installed condition:

 Widerstandsmessgerät an braunem und grünem Kabel

anklemmen.
 The accelerator potentiometer must be placed in the
top end position of the drive pedal such that the display
of the resistance measuring device shows app. 2 ohm.
This is the case if the accelerator potentiometer is
turned in the clockwise direction up to the stop and is
installed in this state in the top end position of the drive
pedal.
 When the drive pedal is stepped on fully, the display of
the resistance measuring device should show app. 1
kohm.
This value appears automatically if the installation of
the accelerator potentiometer in the top end position
was undertaken correctly.
 Tighten the mounting nut in this position.

Note
This setting can also be checked on terminal block 1
(check accelerator potentiometer).

7.2 Troubleshooting with display
A blinking battery display indicates the following faults. The
number of blinking segments indicates the type of fault.
Blinking segments Fault
1 Battery discharged.
Battery cable damaged or disconnected.
2 Cable, connections between the Trio control and the propulsion motor discon-
nected/damaged or loose.
3 Cable, connections between the Trio control and the brush drive disconnected/
damaged or loose.
4 Accessory fault.
1 flashing signal: Lifting motor of the cleaning head is not correctly connected
with Aux 1.
Wiring is possibly disconnected or short circuited.
2 flashing signals: Lifting motor of the vacuum bar is not correctly connected with
Aux 2.
Wiring is possibly disconnected or short circuited.
5 Cable between the Trio control and suction turbine is damaged or disconnected.
6 Control faulty/blocked. Error only occurs if the appliance is equipped with an on-
board charger. Depending on the programming, the drive function is possibly
blocked.
7 Fault in drive pedal.
1 flashing signal: Short circuit on the accelerator pedal. The accelerator pedal
must be in the idle position prior to switching on the appliance. Wiring to the ac-
celerator pedal is disconnected or short circuited. Check potentiometer, nominal
value 5 kohm.
2 flashing signals: Check input signals on X1 (suction operation), X2 (brush
speed) and X3 (driving speed) of the control. If full load output is set on the con-
trol element for the relevant assembly, 5 V must be applied at the associated in-
put.
3 flashing signals: Freewheel. On input X15 of the control the reference voltage
for HIGH is applied (the same voltage as on X16) or the brake is unlocked man-
ually. Check input voltage on X15. Check cables between switch and control.
The error is triggered if the appliance is pushed while the key switch is on "1".
8 Control faulty. Short circuit in the control. Check all cables to the control. Possi-
ble programming error. Error code 9000 possible. Check fuse of brush drive F3
(on the control panel). Check current consumption of the brush drive. Prevent
operation without brush drive by pushing the emergency stop pushbutton. The
error occurs if the minimum current consumption of the brush drive is not
reached.
If the current consumption of the brush drive does not reach the minimum value,
the control lowers the cleaning head. If the bottom microswitch on the hoist drive
switches before the current consumption increases because of the rising contact
pressure of the brush, this is interpreted as a disturbance and indicated with 8
flashing segments. Adjust the lower microswitch, so that it switches not until the
cleaning head is lowered further.
9 Parking brake fault.
1 flashing signal: Malfunction operating hours counter. Check cable to the oper-
ating hours counter. Check input signal. Check resistance 10 kohm parallel to
the operating hours counter.
2 flashing signals: Reverse alarm output malfunction.
3 flashing signals: Check connection of the water pump and the solenoid valve
water inlet with the control (Aux 3).
4 flashing signals: Reset circuit.
5 flashing signals: Check electromagnetic brake and supply lines.
10 Battery voltage too high.
