OPCIÓN A

ISLAND PLANT LIFE

Islands are geographical formations that are completely surrounded by water, yet many islands are
covered with a rich assortment of plant life. It may seem surprising that so much plant life exists in
many islands, yet there are surprisingly simple explanations
explanations as to how the vegetation has been able
to establish itself there. Some islands were formerly attached to larger bodies of land, while others
were created on their own. Islands that were created when flooding or rising water levels cut them
off from their neighbors often still have the plant life that they had before they were cut off. In cases
where islands formed out of the ocean, they may have plant life from neighboring lands. Winds
carry seeds to islands; some plants produce extremely light seeds seeds that can float thousands of feet
above the earth and then drift down to islands where they can sprout and develop. Birds also carry
seeds to islands; as birds move over stretches of water, they can serve as the transportation system
to spread seeds from place to place.

OPCION B

Humans all around the world, from culture to culture, seem to have a lot in common in terms
of emotions. People from every corner of the world seem to express the same emotions: they all
experience happiness and sadness, they all experience anger and fear and surprise.
In addition to sharing the kinds of emotions that they experience, people all around the world
seem to use the same facial expressions to convey emotions. A facial expression that conveys
happiness in the northern hemisphere of the world also does so in southern hemisphere, and a facial
expression that conveys anger in the eastern hemisphere also conveys anger in western hemisphere.
These similarities in emotions around the world lead to the conclusion that the expression of
emotions is something that is intrinsically natural in humans rather than something that is acquired
from one´s individual culture. That is to say, the expression of emotions seems to be natural
throughout humanity rather than something that is learned in a specific culture.
