THE ALCHEMIST

The story of Novel:

The story is about a Shepherd boy from Spain whose

name is Santiago who wants to travel the world but his parents
wants him to be priest, he don't want to be priest and he buy the
flok, than boy start traveling to different places.

The boy keeps getting the dream about treasures that are
lying in the Pyramids of Egypt. Santiago decided to travel
pyramids to follow his dream after meeting an old king who offers
him magic stones and advice. The boy crosses the Mediterranean
and Sahara to find his treasures in Egypt and also accomplish his
personal legend which is his purpose in life, the book details his
journey and hardships that he experienced when following his
dream. Santiago meets many new people and learn many life
lessons from them, on his journey he was robbed, beaten but he
never give upon his goal.

However, the boy didn’t find his treasures at the Pyramids

in Egypt. He found them at the Sycamore near the ruined church
where Shepherds and their sheep slept.
My favorite thing in this story:

There are many situations and characters which are my

favorite but the quotations of this novel are my most favorite.

Some of my favourites are:

● If you want something, the entire universe conspires to help

you achieve it.
● When we love, we always strive to become better than we
are. When we strive to become better than we are,
everything around us becomes better too.
● There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to
achieve: the fear of failure.
● The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up
eight times.
● Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find
your treasure.

What I liked:

I really liked the way the author, Paulo Coelho, expressed

the boy's emotions as his heart's sayings. He never used the
word mind. He mentioned heart every time in story, and i liked the
language used is so easy to understand and the content is
amazing.
I like it the most because this novel teaches us to follow our
dreams. A tale of a simple shepherd who goes on an
unforgettable journey. The journey teaches him, all the ups and
downs one can face in life.

My experience while reading the novel:

My experience while reading this novel was pretty good

from starting to the ending of novel, as i experienced that the
book is written in simple and lucid style, this book provides us
great motivation and teaches us life lessons, above all it provides
us medium that how can we get to our personal legend (dream),
when i was reading this novel that feelings of mine can not be put
into the words.

What I thought as drawback:

it confirmed me that it is a fiction, before reading that I was

not feel like, where the boy was talking to the sun and the wind.
this one thing may ignite the reader to the thinking of "Well, this
can only happen in stories."

Recommendation:
I would like to recommend everyone to read this book at least
once in their lifetime, special recommendation for all those who
are depressed and who want to understand the life, because it
gives you beautiful thoughts about the reality of life, and you can
learn some mind blowing lessons from this book.

Conclusion:

I would conclude it as the treasure was with him in Spain, but

he could not have found it without the journey. This is because the
treasure was not just the gold but also, the journey where he
found his love (Fatima) and where he learnt the art of alchemy. It's
not just about the journey but also, about the work he put in. Also,
Paulo Coelho has told the fact that sometimes the treasures we
keep searching for, are indeed just near us. It's just a matter of
time before we realise it.
