Name of natural Disasters ( macam-macam bencana alam )


1. Earthquake
When a strong earthquake strikes, floors, walls, and doors will shake vigorously. Things
will fall off their shelves, and even entire buildings can come down!
2. Tsunami
destructive waves that gather to a great height before hitting and flooding coastal cities.
They’re often formed when powerful underwater earthquakes cause a disruption in the
ocean’s water.
3. Volcano
Volcanoes are immense mountains that erupt with lava from very, very, very deep under
the earth’s crust

Past Simple

Past simple: Kita menggunakan past simple untuk membahas suatu peristiwa yang terjadi di masa lalu.

Simple past form biasanya merupakan kata kerja dasar yang diberi akhiran –ed. Namun, banyak pula
kata kerja dasar yang memiliki simple past form berbeda dari kata kerja dasarnya dan disebut
dengan irregular past form.

Past Continuous

Past continuous: Penggunaan past continuous yang paling umum adalah untuk membahas suatu
peristiwa yang terjadi pada suatu titik tertentu di masa lalu.

 A : What were you doing at 10.30?


B : We were playing tennis.

 Jack was reading a book when the phone rang.


 Were you watching television when I phone you?
 It wasn’t raining when I got up.

Contoh :
 Yesterday I started work at 9 o’clock and finished at 4.30.

 Kelly fell asleep while she was reading.
 I saw Lucy and Steve this morning. They were waiting at the bus stop.
 It was raining when we went out. (sudah hujan sebelum berangkat).

C. I was doing (Past Continuous)

It is 6 o’clock now.
Paul is at home. He is watching television.

At 4 o’clock he wasn’t at home. He was at the sports club.

He was swimming in the pool. He wasn’t watching television.

am/is/are + -ing (present) was/were +-ing (past) :

present past
 I’m working. (now)   I was working at 10.30 last night.
 It isn’t raining. (now)   It wasn’t raining when we went out
 What are you doing. (now)   What were you doing at 3 o’clock?
