A 3’’ x 5’’ picture is to be enlarged such that its new length is five times the width of the original

picture.
Find the dimensions of the enlarged picture.

Solution:

The original picture =

width = 3”

length = 5”

Because the new length is five times the width of original

So the new length = 5x3 = 15”

New length/original length = 15/5 = 3

So the picture is enlarged to 3 times

The new width = 3x3 = 9”

Answer: 9”x 15”
