FACT SHEET (DIGITAL POSTER)

INTRODUCTION:
Consumer products contain different components that influence their properties and use.
Household Cleaning Materials
The most commonly used cleaning products are bleach, soaps, and detergents. These products have
different composition, specific use, precautions for use, and costs.
Personal Care Products
Personal care products constitute a diverse group of materials that improve the overall appearance of a
person. These products are generally used to cleanse and beautify. Examples of highly demanded personal care
products are makeup, lotions, and toothpastes.
Terms:

• Active ingredient - An active ingredient is any component that provides biologically active or other direct
effect in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease or to affect the structure or any
function of the body of humans or animals.

Objective:
The learners will create a fact sheet through a poster about the products that you usually use in your household. The
goal is to present a reliable data about the components of the chosen product and decide whether these components
are harmful or not, whether you would use it again.

Fact sheet are usually one to two pages long, and it normally includes the following:
1. title/heading
2. diagram/picture
3. descriptions written in outline or paragraph form
4. sources of information

Fact Sheet guidelines:

1. data on active/major ingredient:
a. chemical formula
b. mode of action
c. where the ingredient comes from
d. how the ingredient should be handled, what are the precautionary measures?
e. other uses of the chemical
f. how does the chemical affect the environment?
2. Check multiple sources and make sure to cite them.
3. The fact sheet should be creative, inviting, and informative.
