spatial data processing and analysis algorithms (GeoAI) that incorporates AI technology, and a general
term for a series technologies of the mutual empowerment of AI and GIS. In recent years, AI GIS has
gradually become the main focus of geoscience research and application.
GEO INTELLIGENCE:

• most distinctive characteristic that differentiates GIS from those other information technologies is
geo-intelligence.
• GEOINT is the acronym for geospatial intelligence, which is information derived from an analysis
of images and data associated with a particular location.
• GEOINT uses imagery to survey and assess human activity and physical geography anywhere on
Earth.
• It refers to the general term for geospatial visualization, analysis, decisionmaking, design, and
control based on GIS, remote sensing, and satellite positioning technologies.
• It includes four levels of Geo-visualization, Geo-decision, Geographic-design, and Geo-control,
which contributes to the Geo-intelligence pyramid.
• The complexity of the pyramid is increasing from the bottom, while the maturity is decreasing.
• AI will usher Geo-intelligence in a new round of technological innovation and create greater value.
GeoAI:
It is a spatial data processing and analysis algorithm that integrates AI, and is the product of AI and
GIS.

regression based on Geospatial Machine Learning.

Geospatial Deep Learning can directly identify time and space features from geospatial data, and automatically and
efficiently construct complex features, making data-driven earth science research a trend. Taking SuperMap as an

example, the Geospatial Deep Learning algorithms include 3D data analysis and image analysis.

Because the spatial characteristics of the ground objects are not the same in different regions and in different seasons, it
is necessary to provide a process tool of the GeoAI algorithm to facilitate the application unit to retrain the model
according to its own data characteristics, and improve the success rate and accuracy of model reasoning. The process
tools specifically include several core processes such as data preparation, model
construction, and model application.

AI Cartography saves users from the tedious process
of manual mapping , and the style transfer from image to map can be realized through simple operation;
AI interaction includes rich application interaction of using voice, gestures, body, etc.

GIS
In orderfor AI support the three parts of AI GIS, a four-layer structure can be constructed from the
to effectively
bottom up to form a relatively complete AI GIS technology system. The bottom layer is the data layer, and then
is the domain library. In the framework layer, a variety of AI frameworks can be reasonable abstracted and
encapsulated. The top
functional layer is the three parts of the AI GIS that are specifically introduced. In order to serve a variety of
GIS applications, AI technology needs to be deeply integrated with various forms of GIS software including
Component GIS, Desktop GIS, Server GIS, etc. to jointly build an AI GIS product architecture.
Using AI GIS to improve and develop the new generation of GIS technology system is an effective
method to solve the current intelligent problem of GIS system. AI GIS has initially realized the
computer vision extraction of geographic information such as remote sensing images, videos. And AI

technologies such as voice recognition and language processing technologies can be introduced and
further empowerment can be realized. However, AI GIS is still in the Narrow AI stage and is far from
the general AI (AGI) stage. Therefore, the technology represented by general AI is also an important
direction for the future development of AI GIS.
Since all GIS systems include a wealth of information defined by geographical location, they are ideal training datasets for AI systems. In light of
recent advances in computer technologies and image recognition, this AI is accepted. There are some successful attempts to ut ilize GIS and AI for
pollution management and disease control.
Satellite images deliver data at various levels of detail, that is still vastly underused. However, there are also some difficulties in recognizing
buildings, roads, and other objects. Some other streamlined applications is combining GIS and IoT data to create realistic solutions to urban
industrial concerns. Data from public institutions, such as health reports, pollution measurements, and so on, can also be ac cessed by such
solutions.
photos, such as gas pressure. Image-recognition software performs effectively when photos have a geotag, but it
can also work when photos are related to specific objects in the GIS. Following that, you'll need to determine
the correct asset type based exclusively on the image, then verify and rectify the data in the GIS database.
APPLICATIONS
Utility mapping OF AIGIS:
Many illustrations exist in the utility GIS world, typically depicting different states of the network. Normally,
drawing data of varying purposes and quality is manually retained in the utility asset registration system rather
than automatically supplying the correct data into the GIS system. Machine learning algorithms can be used by
data specialists to diagnose and improve faulty data situations. When assessing the diameter of the connecting
pipes, for example, an algorithm can identify which missing valve type should be added. It can be difficult to
fully train AI to be completely fit for these tasks, especially with so many obstacles ahead.
Data cleansing

Data cleansing and data improvement are time-consuming actions, especially when it comes to
removing missing or incorrect data from assets that are hidden beneath the surface. GIS utility data, a
typically vibrant collection of variable quality (historical) data, is typically memorized by engineers
rather than stored in databases. That's where machine learning can provide unique advantages to the
utility industry.
But how do you determine whether AI is the right solution?

You need to have a reasonable amount of data available. A machine can't learn if it only has a limited set of example data available.
The required amount of data—in most situations—depends on the complexity of the problem. Complex problems and situations

require more data than simple problems.
The available data must be representative of the problem you’re trying to solve. An AI model cannot recognize gas pipes in pictures
if you train it with pictures of street lights.
It's also important that you determine the level of repeatability or the extent to which the results can be generalized or reproduced:
you need to consider the importance of pattern recognition. For example, it's possible to categorize types of gas pipes, because they
possess specific characteristics. If all gas pipes had been unique, there would be no way to put them into generic categories.
Quantity, representativeness, and repeatability of the data are simple rules of thumb to determine on a preliminary basis whether AI
is a feasible tool for the situation. If these three are present, there is strong potential for applying AI to make your company’s life
just a bit easier.
