Quirino: The Prime Agro-industrial and

Eco-tourism destination in the north

Quirino is the smallest province here in Cagayan Valley. Even

though it is just a small division it stands out by its achievements and its
gorgeous tourist spots.
It was named in honor of the then President Elpidio A. Quirino.
Quirino sits in the northern part of Luzon. Its neighboring
states are Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Aurora. Locals generally speak
Ilocano and other tribal dialects.
Quirino, dubbed as the “Forest Heartland of Cagayan Valley”,
was created in 1971 and named after former President Elpidio Quirino, the
6th President of the Philippines. The province is known for its rugged
topography, which makes it a beautiful paradise for outdoor-loving travelers.
Agriculture is the main industry in the province, with rice and
corn as major crops. These supply the demand of neighboring provinces and
the metropolis. It is the leading producer of banana in the Cagayan Valley
region. Banana as well as banana chips are major products sold in Metro
Manila and Pampanga.
Quirino Province celebrates its annual Festivity, dubbed as
“PANAGDADAPUN FESTIVAL” an Ilocano word that means assembly or the
gathering of every Quirinian. It is celebrated every 10th of the September.
Each municipality showcases its Festivities dressed in vibrant and colorful
decorations and visited by local and international tourists.
Diffun serves as the gateway of Quirino. Its tourist spots will blow
your mind for its attractiveness. One of its most visited tourist spots is
Nagbukel Cave. The beauty of Nagbukel Cave will amaze you from its
distinct round shape translates literally to its name as ‘‘Nagbukel’’. A local
religious sector called the Lamplighter has developed the cave and
handles its maintenance.
Thru rolling hills and verdant plains southward we move to
Cabarroguis gay. Cabarroguis is the capital of Quirino. Quirino Watersports
Complex is a cluster of facilities strategically located at the Capital town of
Cabarroguis. Quirino Province Museum and Library is also located in
Cabarroguis. There are also many tourist attraction on Cabarroguis. One of
its popular tourist place is Mount Tagapo or commonly referred to as Mount
Susong Dalaga. Its name came from its breast-like shape.

Saguday is the smallest municipality here on Quirino. Even though

it is the smallest it stands out by its achievements. It is my home town. It
doesn’t have tourist spots but its people make it a better place. Farmers
works hard planting grains amid the pandemic to secure the supply of our
province rice. Saguday is called as the ‘Rice Granary of Quirino’. We are
also a consistent awardee of Seal of good Local Governance. As Angel
Keith Dizon, Our Miss Earth-Saguday said, Proud to be Ilocana, Proud
Sagudayena.

There is also a festival that is celebrated by Saguday people. It is a

symbol of the industry, perseverance and zeal of the rice-producing
people towards the realization of their common aspirations of
development and sustaining Saguday as the Rice Granary of Quirino. It
is celebrated every April 7 to 8 of the year.

Farther I tour you the southeastern edge of Quirino, Aglipay.

Aglipay is a municipality in the landlocked province of Quirino. One of its
cherished and attractive tourism seriously a domain of untouched God's
creation, a waterfall bursting from the clouds as it roars high and loud at the
midmost of a mossy forest. Meet Mabo Falls, an exquisite leak of the
Mamparang Range towering at around 150 meters high water drops, and it
is located at Nagabgaban, Aglipay, Quirino.

Aglipay is also known for its popular caves. The Aglipay Caves is
known for its well-preserved rock formations. Located at Baranggay Villa
Ventura in the small town of Aglipay, the cave’s stalactites, stalagmites, and
flow stones are stunning in nature, produced from the minerals brought about
by dripping water.

After Aglipay let’s move to Maddela the southern part of Quirino. Its
amazing viewpoint will starstruck you. Located in the town of Maddela
is Governor's Rapids which form part of a tributary of the Cagayan River. It
features crystal clear waters which earned it the award of being among the
cleanest inland bodies of water in the whole Cagayan Valley. Governor’s
Rapid is the treasured and most viewed tourist place here on Maddela.

Its southern rim we go to Nagtipunan. Nagtipunan’s area covers more

than half of Quirino. The Municipality of Nagtipunan was formerly a part of
Maddela. It was created on February 25, 1983, by virtue of Batas Pambansa
No. 345 and approved in a plebiscite held on September 24, 1983. The
town's name was derived from the native word nagtipunan meaning
“convergence point,” in reference to several major tributaries of the Cagayan
River in Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya and Qurino meeting at points within this
area. This municipality is known for its natural environment. It is where many
tribes lives. Many mountains are found here. For me it is the most amusing
and underrated place here on Quirino.

Even though it is just a small province it lacks many tourist spots.

Quirino can stand out and keep up with other division.
