NARRATIVE REPORT

COMPUTER BASICS

I learned on this module on how the start of the computer. The history of computers starts out
about 2000 years ago in Babylonia (Mesopotamia), at the birth of the abacus, a wooden rack
holding two horizontal wires with beads strung on them. Blaise Pascal is usually credited for
building the first digital computer in 1642. I also learned that the fisrt counting tools are sticks,
bones and stones by primitive people. More counting tools after a year like Pascaline, this
counting tools is Arithmetic Machine or Adding Machine. Napier's Bones, this counting toolsis
manually operated device and this is the first machine use a decimal point. There is also a five
generation of computers. The first generation (1946-1959) computers were slow, huge and
expensive. In these computers, vacuum tubes were used as the basic components of CPU and
memory. The second generation (1959-1965) was the era of the transistor computers. These
computers used transistors which were cheap, compact and consuming less power; it made
transistor computers faster than the first generation computers. The third-generation computers
used integrated circuits (1Cs) instead of transistors. A single IC can pack huge number
of transistors which increased the power of a computer and reduced the cost. The fourth
generation (1971-1980) computers used very large scale integrated (VLS) circuits; a chip
containing millions of transistors and other circuit elements. In fifth generation (1980-till date)
computers, the VLSI technology was replaced with ULSI (Ultra Large-Scale Integration). It
made possible the production of microprocessor chips with ten million electronic components.
And also I leamed about the basic components of computer; the central processing unit,
computer memory, motherboard, input & output devices, random access memory(RAM), read
only memory(ROM), mouse and keyboard, monitor and many more. Also I have a knowledge
about in Operating System. Before I don't know what about is it, but now I know the operating
system of the computer. An operating system has three main functions: (1) manage the
computer's resources, such as the central processing unit, memory, disk drives, and printers, (2)
establish a user interface, and (3) execute and provide services for applications software. There
are also components of the operating system. The components of operating system are
Process Management, File Management, Network Management, Main Memory Management,
Secondary Storage Management, I/O Device Management, Security Management, Command
Interpreter System. That's all I learned on the module Computer Basics.

INTERNET OF THINGS

The Intemet of things describes physical objects that are embedded with sensors, processing
ability, software, and other technologies that connect and exchange data with other devices and
systems over the Internet or other communications networks. I leamed about this module is the
key types of data and usage. There have so many different type of information resources,
example of this are dictionaries, encyclopedias, books, ebooks, journals, etc. And also I learned
on how to data sorting. Data sorting is is any process that involves arranging the data into some
meaningful order to make it easier to understand, analyze or visualize. The standard
applications
of data sorting are table, charts, graph, ranking, etc. Presentation of Data
Data can be represented in countless ways. The fomat for the presentation of data will depend
on the target audience and the information that needs to be relayed. In the end, data should be
presented in such a way that interpretation and analysis is made easy. Let us see some ways in
which we represent data in economics. I also learned the history of microsoft office. It was first
announced by Bill Gates on August 1, 1988, at COMDEX in Las Vegas. Initially a marketing
term for an office suite (bundled set of productivity applications), the first version of Office
contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Microsoft office have
six core programs. The programs are Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, Publisher, and
Onenote.
The Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications in Microsoft Office are familiar household names,
even to people who are not familiar with the details of the Office suite's evolution. They are
often use by a diverse user base, for example, college students, interns, or front line workers in
IT. By contrast, someone may use Word, Excel and PowerPoint frequently, and rarely or never
use Access,
isher or OneNote. The three major Microsoft Office pieces include the word
processor (Word), the spreadsheet (Excel) and the visual presentation tool (PowerPoint.)
Access
is a database management tool, while Publisher allows for the presentation of various marketing
materials. I also learned about the Internet, the intermet is a system architecture that has
revolutionized communications and methods of commerce by allowing various computer
networks around the world to interconnect. The Intermet is a vast network that connects
computers all over the world. The Intermet consists of technologies developed by different
individuals and organizations. Important figures include Bob Khan and Vint Cerf. The Internet
works through a series of networks that connect devices around the world through telephone
lines. Users are provided access to the Internet by Internet service providers.

WORD PROCESSORS

A word processor is a device or computer program that provides for input, editing, fomatting,
and output of text, often with some additional features. Early word processors were stand-alone
devices dedicated to the function, but current word processors are word processor programs
running on general purpose computers. I learned on this module on how to use Microsoft Word.
Microsoft Word is a word processor developed by Microsoft. It has advanced features, which
allow you to format and edit your files and documents in the best possible way. Microsoft Word
enables users to do write-ups, create documents, resumes, contracts, etc. The Microsoft Word
have a 6 different categories; Home, Insert, Design, Page Layout, References, and Review. I
also
learned on how to do a sample document in Microsoft Word. The sample of that is the activityI
do. I also leamed the shortcut keys use to easily finish the document. Example Ctrl + B(Bold),
Ctrl + I(ltalic) and many more. There so much more you can do on microsoft word not just an
simple edit, but you can make your document more unique and precisely. That's all I learmed on
topic about word processors

EXCEL SPREADSHEET
The definition of a spreadsheet is a piece of paper or a computer program used for accounting
and recording data using rows and columns into which information can be entered. Microsoft
Excel, a program in which you enter data into columns, is an example of a spreadsheet
program.
I learned on this topic the history of the Excel Spreadsheet. Microsoft Excel has been around
since 1982, first introduced as Multiplan, a very popular CP/M (Control Program for
Microcomputers), but lost popularity on MS-DOS systems to Lotus 1-2-3. In 1987, Microsoft
introduced Excel v2. 0 for Windows and by 1988 began to outsell Lotus 1-2-3 and the emerging
QuatroPro. This Excel Spreadsheet allow us to easily compute the grades of the student in your
class, compute the profit you earned on your store day by day and many more. Excel
Spreadsheet
also allows you to to create budgets, produce graphs and charts, and for storing and sorting
data.
The main uses of Excel Spreadsheet are data entry, data management, accounting, financial
analysis, charting and graphing, programming, time management, and task management. I also
leamed on how to compute in the Excel Spreadsheet, just type the number in the row you need
to
solve, then put an equal first and put the number you want to solve then the equation you will
use
and the answer will appear automatically. That's all I learned on how to use the Excel
Spreadsheet.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION
Powerpoint Presentation(PPT) is a file extension for a presentation file format used by Microsoft
PowerPoint, the popular presentation software commonly used for office and educational slide
shows. All text images, sound and video used in the presentation are contained in the PPT file. I
learned on this topic the history of powerpoint presentation. The idea of PowerPoint came up in
1984. In the following years, development started under the name "Presenter". In 1987, the first
version of PowerPoint for Macintosh was released. The first Windows release followed in 1990.
I learned also on how to add animations on the presentation, create a slideshow, add charts &
graphs, and images to display during a presentations. Using PowerPoint can help you present
information in multiple ways (a multimodal approach) through the projection of color, images,
and video for the visual mode; sound and music for the auditory mode; text and writing prompts
for the reading/writing mode; and interactive slides that ask students to do something. The
purpose of PowerPoint is to act as a visual aid as a presenter goes along presenting their
option,
ideas, sales pitch, etc. Make sure to not make your slides too wordy and concentrate on adding
only basic bullet points. Presentations make it easier to engage your audience. Striking images
can hold an audience's attention, while clear bullet points or summary text helps the audience
follows the logic of a presentation. The parts of powerpoint presentation are view), quick access
toolbar, title bar, the ribbon, slide pane, status bar, and slide. When you have knowledge about
powerpoint, you csn improved your presentation skills, you can showcase your professional
expertise on a daily basis, accelerate your business, and get more of what you want in your
business life. It will help you to command attention, gain respect and easily sell your ideas to
anyone. That's all I learned about the topic in powerpoint presentation.

ELECTRONIC MAIL

Electronic mail (e-mail) is a computer-based application for the exchange of messages between
users. A worldwide e-mail network allows people to exchange e-mail messages very quickly.
E-mail is the electronic equivalent of a letter, but with advantages in timeliness and flexibility. I
learned on this topic the history of electronic mail. Ray Tomlinson is credited as the inventor of
networked email; in 1971, he developed the first system able to send mail between users on
different hosts across the ARPANET, using the sign to link the user name with a destination
server. By the mid-1970s, this was the form recognized as email. I learned also the do's and
dont's when you using email. Also in sending email and creating signature. E-mail is an efficient
communication tool and eliminates many of the difficulties associated with trying to reach
people by telephone. E-mail can also be used to send the same message to a group of people
on a
list. That' all I learned about this topic electronic mail
