Unit 10.4: Online Content Curation Tool
From the image above, content curation has steps to follow to provide the best content for
your topic. It is like a scientific method that when you propose an idea, you need to gather
information and connect it to your concept by trying to figure out how that information
relates to yours.
There are lots of things you need to consider when you are curating content online, and it
must be thought of before you write your content. Regardless of what content you are going
to write, it is vital to know the factors you should consider when curating online content.
Specifically, materials related to your studies must be the number one factor, but here are
some fundamental elements that you might need to consider.
Audience
The reader, viewer, or audience should be one of the significant factors to consider.
Thinking about who your audience is and their ages might give you a hint on how you will
gather information on your topic and write with your own words.
Updated Reference
The reference you are going to look for must be updated. It must not be included in your
references if it is outdated, even if it is related to your topic. Remember that the information
must be valid, reliable, and updated. There are lots of sites that offer updated information,
and you may use them for content curation.
Content Creation Style
It has been a standard practice that you should consider your writing style or your content
creation style. Regardless of the type of content, whether it may be a vlog, blog, tutorial, or
an article, the form of how you create the content must be considered. The formality or
informality of the content is always emphasized.

Fig. 5. Vlog content creation.
By inspecting the content you found, you can also study how the content was created, the
style of the author when the content was produced, and how formal or informal the content
was generated.
Guidelines in Curating Online Content
Producing your content is very difficult, especially when you are not a natural writer or
author, and you are just starting out venturing into online content curation. Using those
references you found that are relevant and related to your content, it is crucial to learn how
you are going to combine all the information you get to make a successful content curation.
Speak for Yourself
All the contents you have searched and gotten are just references for proof of validation of
your content. It is necessary that in writing your content or even talking in a vlog, you and
your words are emphasized. Since it is content curation, other references may be linked to
your content, and you need to combine it with your thoughts and ideas.
6
Unit 10.4: Online Content Curation Tool
Make Sense
It is essential to curate content that has meaning and value to people. It is effortless to write
anything under the sun, but make sure that all the references you get will undoubtedly be
used and give meaning to your curated content. Please do not write or speak vague content;
it will confuse your audience.
Balance Promotional Content
Content curation must not focus on promoting products or services. It must focus on how
your topic helps people reading or watching your content. Promoting products and services
are all fine but must have limitations. Try to balance explanation and promotion at the same
time.
The Shorter, The Better
Content curation may seem to be very detailed with its content. Hence, it must be straight to
the point also. Readers and viewers might get bored if your content is very long. It must be
straight to the point. The shorter and more evident the message of the content, the better.
Kinds of Online Content Curation Tools
It is hard to identify and locate the contents relevant to the topic you want to have curated.
Thorough research must be done before you get the best content suited and match with
your needs. There are many websites out there that might help you, but it is challenging to
pick which content is relevant and necessary. Here are some tools that might help you sort
out and select the most suitable content that matches your topic.
